I've got a list of customers from four years ago when my business was closed. I've reopened and would like to try and get some of them back.

What I have is a 300 page dot-martix paper list of names and addresses. The original database from where this originated is long gone.

What's the best way to get these names and addresses scanned and imputed into a database that could be used to print mailing labels and letterhead?

Scanner and specialty software? Perhaps a company that deals with direct mail?

The professional software to do this runs about $10,000.

A minimum-wage Data Entry Specialist somewhere awaits a call from you!

No easy way to do it, guy. Unless you learn to Save The Databases you create, this will happen occasionally.

What about scanning a page, and then running text recognition software on it?

I bought a scanner a couple of years ago, and it had OCR (optical character recognition) software with it.

Poke around on Google for OCR software. maybe something will come up.
