You have to bring in the image from another website, not just attach it. To do this, you first need to have your pic hosted elsewhere. After you do that, you insert your pic's specific address in between brackets - like so: {img}pic's address{/img} except you trade the { and } with [ and ]. To see a perfect example of this, quote mrwilmoth's first post, and take a look at the code for his pic insert, you'll get the idea. He had his pic hosted at photobucket and was able to bring it in w/out attaching it. Make sense?

SOG Pentagon Elite 4 inch folding knife

Depending on my style of dress and where I'm going:
G20 in a C-TAC
S&W 340PD in a Uncle Mike's pocket holster

I try to carry the G20 as much as possible. When I do I usually have the 340PD along as a BUG too. When I only carry the 340PD I have the G20 secured in the T-bird as a car gun. I'm going to ask for a small tac light for my birthday.

Bandananananas can be used as tourniquets in the event someone is shot.

They can be used as a recepticle for snot should a nose blowing emergency arise.

They can be used as ninja face veils.

They can be used as napkins to wipe the cheese off your hands from your nachos at Walmart.

The list goes on and on and on and on.

Yeah, same here. Whenever I undo my Wilderness belt and drop my pants at the end of the day, they fall off me like a ton of bricks (since there's no longer a GLOCK in the waistband and I buy them intentionally too big). ;i

Well...sure...but, if someone is shot, you have your t-shirt; if you need to blow your nose, paper towels and Kleenex are usually almost everywhere; ninja face veils, don't even get me started; and napkins, like I said, paper towels are usually everywhere in some form.

I'd think that there are MANY little things that have many uses, but that you don't need to carry on you all the time because you can usually find them nearby. Like...a little bottle of oil, some salt and pepper, toilet paper, etc. ;g Anyway, it's no big deal to me since I'm not carrying it, but that's what I was thinking when I originally made the bandana comment.

All you guys carry way too much crap.
Whats with all the spare mags also? If you have a gun that holds anything over 14 or 15 rounds and youre carrying it on your person daily, thats overkill. Some of you guys are carrying 30+ rounds daily LOL.

Its not like magazines are the least reliable part of a gun or anything, right?

Exactly. If I encounter a malfunction, chances are it'll be quicker to just rip the problem magazine out of the gun and replace it with a spare.

Of course, the fact that I'm in a gunfight alone means that I am a statistical violation. While the "average" gunfight may well be over in 3 or 4 shots, I'd hate to run into one of the LOTSASHOTS gunfights that make up the big end of the scale.

YMMV.

Do you guys wear your GLOCKs when you're at home and times like when you're mowing the yard, working on your truck, etc.? Am I the only one that usually "straps on" when I go out, rather than the opposite?

*taps side*

I'm sitting in the living room at 10:20 PM watching TV with my laptop in my lap, and I have my gun on my hip. Someone tries to come through that door, that window, etc, I don't have to go looking for it. It's right here. When I take off my pants and get into bed, the gun goes where I can get to it. When I get up in the AM, it goes back on (unless there's a specific location I'm going I can't wear it, in which case it goes into the travel case I'm using to get it there and store it while I'm there). Safe. I have a CCW as I don't know when something bad is going to happen. Bad things happen at home, too.

01-11-2005, 21:49
Mine is nearby at home as well. However, I always lock my doors and windows, even when I'm going back and forth between inside and the car port (laundry room--I live in a duplex). So if somebody decides to come through a door or a window, unless they're the SWAT team with a battering ram, I'm going to have time to go to guns. For me, it's a comfort thing. At home, I like to loosen my belt, untuck my shirt, kick off my shoes, and not have 2+ pounds of metal on my hip. ;)

:) Forget about, just, the gun: Here's a list of what I carry whenever I go out: (I, even, carry this stuff to walk the dog; but, then again, I share a farm with at least one 400# bear! He's, never, bothered me; but he does come in, close, at night; and I'm not so sure how he feels about a, 'Dachshund on a string'.)

Most of the time:

(1.) A 45acp, Glock, Model G-21 with a 15 round magazine @ 4:00 o'clock. Usually worn in a Wm. Tucker HF-1, Silver Concho Holster.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v155/War_Angel/MyRig.jpg

If I’m wearing dungarees, I’ll often carry inside a Blade-Tech, Kydex holster. (The custom model with the edge rolled over the gun’s muzzle.) Mine are fitted with the new, ‘Tek-Lok’ quick on/off clasp. It may interest some people to know that I use a standard left-hand holster, fitted with only two of the usual three screws; and I wear this INSIDE my pants on the right-hand side. Works great!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v155/War_Angel/MyBeltPackage.jpg

(2.) A second 15 round magazine @ 8:00 o'clock. Worn in, either, a Tucker Gunleather deep pouch holder, or a Blade-Tech, single-mag Carrier, again, fitted with a, ‘Tek-Lok’ clasp. As a point-of-interest: My usual 45acp carry round is 230grn. FMJ ball ammo.

(3.) A CRKT, Crawford-Kasper, Professional Model, #7783, Folding Knife carried in, either, a Matt Del Fatti, or a Wm. Tucker custom-molded sheath @ 7:30 o'clock.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v155/War_Angel/MyEverydayKnives.jpg

(4.) A Verizon cell phone clipped inside a front pocket.

(5.) A climber's carabineer snap-clasp hook @ either 11:05 or 2:05 o'clock. It's for my keys - the only sure way NOT to lose them.

(6.) My gun belt is a very strong 1 1/2", Wm. Tucker, ‘Ranger’ Belt. (Black basket-weave and, also, beautifully made!)

(7.) A 32acp, Beretta, 'Alley Cat'. Inside my front left pocket, locked and loaded w/ 8 rounds and the safety off. (Safety's worthless, anyway.) I carry this in a Galco horsehide pocket holster. If I'm wearing a covering jacket, this piece gets moved to an outside left pocket. This, ‘BUG’ is loaded with Winchester, S-T, 60grn, hollow points.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v155/War_Angel/MyLeftPocketBUG.jpg

(8.) A Zippo cigarette lighter in my right front pocket. (Sometimes, with my wallet.) I'm never without this. (And, I don't smoke.)

(9.) Oh, yeah, my M-65 field jacket, always, has: (among other things) a compass, a small mirror, a whistle, ear plugs, and a magnesium fire stick in the chest pockets.

On certain occasions, I'll remove the Model G-21 and extra magazine carrier. I, then, substitute a 357mag, S&W, Model 686 revolver with a 2 1/2" barrel; and I add two Safariland, ‘Comp II’ speedloaders carried inside Matt Del Fatti’s, 'Split-The-Belt' holders. (These are worn – as they should be - @ 2:00 o'clock on the strong side.) I, also, use Winchester, S-T’s here too. This time in 357mag, 145grn, hollow points.

For those times when I’m all dressed up in a Brooks Brothers suit; and I really have to worry about, ‘patterning’ (Not too often nowadays.) I use a German-made, Walther, PPK-S carried in an El Paso Saddlery, Model #88, ‘Street Combat’ rig. Very flat, very concealable, and accompanied on the other side by an El Paso, double-mag pouch. My carry round for this gun is, again, Winchester, Silver-Tip, 85grn. hollow points.

Sometimes I, also, carry a very thin, ‘snap-opening’, CRKT, M16-14FD folder clipped, either, inside my belt at the top of the pants, or on one of my pockets. The last thing I carry with me is an, 'attitude'. Most of the time it's more useful than any the guns and knives. ;)

:) Yes, Scherer mag extensions; and I've been shooting them every week for almost 3 years, now. So far no problems and no, 'speed dumps'. Of course, I've got Wolff extra power 13 round springs in all my magazines; and everything I carry has been used over and over again to make sure it's right. I, also, carry at least one extra magazine; and, often, a second BUG in my front left pocket. (Yes, I used to be a Boy Scout!) ;)

Here, after owning the camera for 14 months and leaving it to sit on the shelf, I've finally summoned up the courage to attempt to use the confounded thing:

:) Thanks, Phil! Those are the very first pictures I've taken with my new digital camera and immediately posted on the web - Kind 'a neat!

Now, about that hardball: IMHO, it impacts harder on vests and breaks bone better than HP. I don't want a round that's going to flatten out on a rib or splatter on the pelvic girdle. I, also, like the idea that if I, ever, have to use it, I'll be getting two holes for every hit!

But, hey, this is just me! ;f

EDITED TO ADD: Everything about this pistol is setup for combat: heavy butt, skateboard-taped side panels, night sights, and 5" ported barrel. I want to be able to use full power hard-hitting ammo, minimize the muzzle flip, and get my sight picture back as quickly as possible - especially on the first three shots. Consequently I'd rather have two extra rounds in an already heavy, high-cap pistol rather than use a frame-weight device like a, 'Seattle Slug' in the grip hole.

Ignoring any potential legal ramifications of having to use a pistol like that in a defense situation, is it just me or would a ported barrel actually make follow-ups slower because of the bright muzzle flash you'll get right up into your sight picture at night? Moreso than with a regular barrel (which will still flash, yes). ;g

;Q Let's see? With slide AND barrel porting - quite possibly! This is why I've never owned a slide ported anything in my entire life.

With the much narrower slit-type muzzle ports, well, what kind of powder are you using? IME, muzzle ports don't flash anymore than typical for a 4 or 5" barrel. The particular ammunition will be more of a flash factor than muzzle configuration. Other than this my G-21's are perfectly legal in every respect. They, even, have standard 5.5# triggers because I don't like the creep in the lighter triggers and shoot the standard weight well enough not to feel at a disadvantage.

By the way I've loaned my pistols to any number of IDPA or PPC shooters who, to an individual, said they noticed a definite improvement over what they were used to experiencing when the gun went off. Some of the best shooters have told me that their shot-string times actually improved! I've stood behind several of these guys while they were shooting my pistol; from what I've witnessed, I'd have to agree - They were faster and just as accurate! ;)

HELL no! College student.

Not to hijack the thread, but to explain why I am so armed/armored at times...
My ex-father-in-law just wants me dead... literally. He is a professional pothead and methamphetamine user. He, and several other members of his family have quite a history of personality disorders, including antisocial personality disorder (psychopaths/sociopaths) and borderline personality disorder (borderline psychotic). Unfortunately, he, unlike some of his family, has not been diagnosed as having any mental issues and has only been convicted of (numerous) misemeanors, so he is free to purchase guns legally... Not that the legal issues mean anything to him. He somehow managed to get away with no charges after cramming the barrel of a loaded 357 in a guy's mouth once. Point is.. He is just dangerous.
He has been arrested (cited and released) twice for harrasment against me (since there was no visible injury to make it an assault) and has made it well known that he wants to and will kill me and/or kidnap my children. Thanks to his personality disorders and methamphetamine use, he is a habitual liar who gets mad for no reason and will make up a lie so that he, in his own mind, can justify violence against me.

The last confrontation I had with him almost landed me in jail. It occurred in a parking lot while my children were in my car and I was standing outside the car having a cigarette. I could not run from the situation and leave my children unattended. I tried to maintain a reasonable distance between us while circling my vehicle. I never pushed him or hit him, only ordered him to back up. After he assaulted me, my ex-wife came outside. He didn't want her to see him hit me.. Can't have a witness. He threatened me a few more times and told me that it is just between us and not to contact the police or he will kill me, blah, blah, blah. An officer came and took a report from me. After the officer left from taking my report, I was contacted again by that officer again. After my ex-father-in-law left, he beat the holy hell out of himself and decided to file a report of me assaulting him by beating him with something (using an object made it a felony). The officer decided that since he received all these injuries in the confrontation that I must have lied to him and that I was the aggressor. He then let me know that I going to be placed under arrest.
I politely argued with him a while...
Blah blah blah...
..
..
"Did you know that I am carrying a concealed hangun?"
"No. It was never mentioned."
"Hmm.. What a surprise.. Maybe because I left it holstered. If I had been the aggressor, I would have shot the bast***. But did I? No. Did I even threaten to use it? Obviously not. I am licensed and have been trained and know when and how to use my weapon. Had he not stopped with the simple assault, I may have used it, but I in no way defended myself with anything but words and distance."
"Blah, blah, blah."
Argued with the officer for awhile. Lucky for me, I know most of the officers at the particular department... Unfortunately, the responding officer was not one of them. The call from the station came to him that my ex-father-in-law was being arrested for harrassment and initiating a false police report. They thanked him for filing the report, arrested him, and sent him home. This made him even more mad at me and everything..
In the months since this situation, he has tried almost everything possible to get my CHL revoked. He wants to do whatever he can to get me unarmed and has been unsucessful, so who knows what he will do, and with how many of his meth addict "friends."
You'd rather have a gun and not need it.. I'd rather be armed with all I have. Generally, I will not even take the G30 out of the safe, but my ex-father-in-law is a pretty big guy and I would like to have a .45 in case the 9mm doesn't penetrate enough. I also like the fact that 3 guns gives me 3 different methods of drawing in case I am unable to draw one of the others. No.. I'm not paranoid. I know that he is a major risk to me... and my children.

If you should, ever, have to use it, all that hardware is going to really work against you, later on, when you show up in court! I have a friend who used to be in your present situation; he used restraining orders and police supervised pickups whenever he got his kids.

When the situation didn't improve, he made the hard choice to stop seeing his kids until they were older and able to visit him on their own. Life isn't always easy; but, that's way too much hardware for a domestic situation. Suggest you use the legal system or distance yourself - instead. ;)

:) OK, last reply of the night. So, what's tricked out? Hardball ammo has been legal to use in these United States since before the First World War. The police frequently use the same grips, magazines, and night sights. Porting ??? Nothing illegal there. As a matter of fact a strong argument could be made that anything that helps the shooter to improve his aim and hit the target is, actually, a safety feature!

I like and respect Mas Ayoob; as a matter of fact I'm probably one of his biggest fans; but, there are times when I think he carries this courtroom stuff a little too far. Besides lawyers frequently employ legal shenanigans intended more for theatrics than jurisprudence. The news media does exactly the same thing. It's just as necessary for jurors to be able to separate fact from fiction as it is for television viewers to be able to recognize that Captain Kirk isn't really out there orbiting Jupiter! ;g

(Now, if you're drilling out your hardball and filling the cavities with mercury - a la, 'Day Of The Jackal' - THAT might be something for a jury to take into consideration.)

You got it backwards. I am the one with sole custody of the children. She is the one that gets the visits. They are unscheduled, with no minimum frequency or length requirement, so I try to keep it to a minimum. This is not too difficult as she is in and out of jail all the time (which is why she is my ex-wife now). I can't distance myself anymore really.. I live more than 100 miles from her, but I am required by court order to at least give her reasonable parenting time, and I am required to supervise it.

I think the three guns at once may act against you rather than for you. Let's say your ex-father-scum-whatever gets the jump on you and it's a fight, well of course if you fear life and limb than you go for peice but "ohh crap, he just happend to grab where my other one was" and it's fish on. Now do you draw one of your others or fight with him over the one he almost has out? Primary and a backup is waaaayyyyyy easier to control over primary and two backups. If you are having trouble drawing move the location a little and train. I had this situation come up(not being able to draw week side) during training and when the fight was on, I got the f*&ker out and presented the business end to my partner. Practice practice practice. Warrior mindset "I will not die today" Keep in mind most LEO that are shot in the line of duty, are shot with thier OWN weapon, a fact I take very close to home. I still carry a backup, but my setup allows me to defend the primary(with fish on) and retrieve my backup to blast him off. I can also get to a knife from the same location to saw him off if need be. You only have 2 hands, hard to defend 3 guns. Also keep in mine it's hard to defend one gun with one hand unless you have a security holster(I carry a Lvl 3 and I can beat it when training with my co-workers) If you are worried that the 9MM won't stop, carry the .45 INSTEAD. Make sure you have a no-contact order against him aswell. In my state that is the kiss of death for firearms ownership if you have one levied against you. Stay safe and watch your six. Keep those kids out of harms way.

In the state of Oregon, you can't get a POR for this. With the way the statute is written, I would have to have had some form of sexual relationship with him. Once you are divorced, the in-laws are no longer family. I can still get a POR against my ex-wife, but not the ex-father-in-law. I am happy that it is this way, because it means that, no matter how much he lies about things, he cannot get one against me. I only need one more instance of him contacting me in order to get an anti-stalking order against him.
In Oregon, if you do not fight the POR, you may get to keep guns. If you try to fight it being put into effect and you lose, you will lose your guns. Regardless of that fact, he has a good supply of connections from his personal "pharmacy" business that could get him an illegal/stolen if he wanted.

That is why I had the other 2 where I do. The 3 guns aren't 3 primaries, they are a primary and 2 backups. The 2 backups were positioned so that I have alternative methods for drawing a backup. 26, easy for left hand draw, where the 30 was easier right handed. I don't choose that method now, since the 30 in the smartcarry is basically impossible to get to with either of the others on my hip and a hand fighting over another gun. I stick to the 19 and 26 now. The 30 is taking a little vacation in the safe.

Primary guns rotates around Glock 21, 23, 27, 30 or 36, all depends on outfit and destination.

Always carry at least one spare mag for primary gun (highest capacity available in that caliber).

BUG is often S&W 340PD or KalTec P3AT or on occasion Seecamp 32. In tuff areas the Glock 27 will back up the 23 or the 30 will back up the 21.

Always carry at least two knifes. One of several Benchmades on strongside for fighting or defense and one of several Spydercos on weak side for utility or defense.

At least one Surefire is always in coat pocket along with 4oz can of Fox OC spray for the less deadly incounters.

Every once in a while there may be a third firearm, knife or varius other selfdense tool.

I really need some OC. I always thought, "The only way I'll ever need a weapon is if I need to shoot someone..." but that mentality has fast faded. The more I learn about carrying and the more experience I have the more I realize that the more options you have, the better off you'll be.

As a sidenote though, whenever I think of OC + Knife + Firearm I think of something along the lines of a Monty Python sketch. It would suck to be on the receiving end of all three, in succession.

Usually:

-Glock 20 w/16rnds of Georgia Arms 155gr Gold Dot in Sidearmor holster

-One or two extra 15rnd magazines in Sidearmor carriers

-Keys

-Cell phone (sometimes)

-Kershaw knife

-Wallet

Thats it. Still have pockets left over too!

Getting some Double-Tap 200gr XTP ammo for carry-testing. Hopefully they'll function okay.

Glock 19 with night sights and a 15 round mag, stuffed with Golden Sabers, in a Kramer horsehide paddle or a vertical scabbard. Also have a spare 15 round mag in a Kramer mag pouch, with a Surefire G2 in my pocket. I need to find a combo pouch so my bezel doesn't get beat to hell.

Benchmade AFCK rides in my right pocket, with a wallet, cell phone, and keys.

When I feel like it, I tote a Kimber Compact .45 in a Kramer belt scabbard, with a Wilson Combat mag/flashlight combo pouch which holds the G2 and a spare Wilson Combat 7-rounder. 230 gr. Golden Sabers or Winchester Rangers feed that pistol.

I prefer to carry the G19 due to weight and comfort, but try to carry the Kimber as often as I can. Summertime is pretty much the G19 exclusively, and I'm looking at a G30 to turn into the summer iron.

When I carry a spare, it's an extended 15rd at 10 o'clock or so. Sometimes 27 is replaced with 22. Bout it. No pic yet....

I have just been skimming over this thread and not reading each post in depth but I think you are the first person to have mentioned you daily carry a divot repair tool. That tells me a bit about you. I wished I daily carried a divot tool, or had the need to carry one daily?

Copied from my post on the "How Do You Carry" thread...

Aside from my wallet, keys and a cell phone that are shoved in my pockets, all I carry is a G22 on a Wilderness belt.

I've been contemplating getting a combination mag/flashlight holder to carry a spare mag and my Surefire 6P, but haven't done it yet because I haven't found one I particularly like.

Mrwilmoth, if you keep adding stuff you're going to need another belt. ;)

Glockendoc

With all due respect glockendoc, that is really not a good excuse. If you want to wear or have a bandanna and if it makes you feel good, then great, say so. But if you are planning on saving the life of the person you have just defended yourself against then you really ought to learn some first aid technics that are centered around bleeding. As a general rule any place that bleeding can be controled by a tourniquet can also be controled by direct pressure, either to the wound or to the artirial pressure point supplying that area with blood. A tourniquet is a last resort and should only be used on an appendage that will probably be lost anyway. Arteries really have an amazing ability to heal (bad choice of words there but the brain has shut down for the night) and close themselves off within a few seconds of being severed. Veins on the other hand require a bit more attention. Being able to determine whether the blood is coming from a vein or artery is also an important skill.
And as a side note a tourniquet can be fashioned out of nearly anything at hand. If I had to make a tourniquet for someone I had just shot in defense, I would not think twice about ripping of a piece of his shirt or pants to get the job done. The EMS personel responding to the scene will cut it off anyway.
I do commend you on being prepared though for the worst. Most people would shoot first and think later.

I can use the kerchief for lots of things, bleeding or not. On the whole, doubt it will come in handy for BG at all. Thanks for the short vessel discourse.

My always carry gun is my S&W642 with XS night sights and CT Laser grips in a Mitch Rosen pocket holster. I carry that even in my home although I have many other guns strategically located around the house. Outside I'll have a De Santis speed loader carrier with a HKS speed loader on the belt, another in the pocket and a speed strip in a Dillon holder on the belt. I’ve been more frequently taken to carrying a minimum of two firearms so with that comes my Glock 36 with XS 24/7 night sights, carried in my Milt Sparks Versa Max II holster and magazine carrier on the belt and another magazine in the pocket. Include pepper spray, Surefire C2 Centurian, Kershaw speed assisted Blur and Benchmade Mini Griptilian and cell phone. Off body will have more tools based on perceived need.

A good belt helps.

Let me rephrase that:

A good belt is NECESSARY.

I carry a Glock 36 .45 with a SOB holster. This holster will carry all my glocks and even my S&W Sigma .40 duty weapon. My only issue with larger framed guns in this holster is that the grip has a habit of sticking out when getting in and out of cars. Other than that, it's a great way to carry.

The S&W Sigma is funny. Just today, we were on the range and one of the frames cracked under the slide release. Not only did that happen, but another gun had the pin on the trigger safety fall out. ;P I feel real safe on the street with that trash on my side. The Department is talking about going to Glock, HK,or Sig but it will never happen. Much to liberal for good stuff like that.
