I will be picking up the Sig in the pictures (below) very soon. It's an "Israeli import" (or so I am told from a relative who bought several)...and has obviously been through some use (okay, a LOT of use!).

Don't worry, I didn't pay too much ;)

I'm told it is covered in grease/oil and will need to be cleaned up quite a bit. It looks like there might be touches of surface rust but that may just be lots of dirt.

1.) I'd like to get a checklist going of what should be cleaned/inspected/replaced before I take it to the range. I understand the rollerpins should be looked at, and that the barrels on these tend to weaken after so many rounds.

2.) I've also seen some companies that offer refinishing, but wanted to hear from first hand experiences if anyone here has sent theirs off.

***List so far***
-Clean it
-Service roller pins?
-Buy new grips

***Potential Refinishers***

Glad to hear about CCR...

I'd tell you if I knew...my relative got these from a store nearby to them and has been holding this one for me for a little while.

I saw in another post about http://www.thedealerwarehouse.com/

You might also try the usual Gunbroker and GunsAmerica websites.

You get what you pay for...after paying/waiting for refinishing and the like I should have probably just bought a like new one ;Q

Although I suppose there's always a 226, 220, etc, ;)

I've had a couple of Glock slides done by CCR and he is very good. If you want it hard chromed go to www.apwcogan.com I had them chrome a P226 slide and it looked great.

Hahaha, "character" ... if it were a house being described with that word I would run the other way as fast as possible ;z

However, because this is a Sig...the glass will be half full... :p

I've done a couple hours worth of reading over at a certain "sig forum" as well as the other branches here and the concensus has been very positive for CCR's work. Looks like they'll be getting a phone call once this comes in!

I like #3 and #1 in that order.
Just me.

Yeah it's funny because I would never think to get #3, but it really appeals to me for some reason.

#1 is a classic...I think #2 is pretty neat in compromising between the shiny chrome color and black.

And here's a 220 I had refinished by Brad at CCR. You can't beat the quality and the price!:)

Im sending my 220 to CCR soon. I think I will have the gun covered with the black (#4). The barrel, guide rod, trigger and grip screws will be done with the grey (#2).

I hope it will look good! What do you guys think?

I've got a re-furb 226 that I wouldn't mind
getting re-finished sometime down the road. My question
is this...Are the barrels and all internal parts also
covered during the refinishing and how is the corrosion
resistance of these finishes...??

Mainly wanting to know about the CCR products.

Check out their website!

It's a polymer (very thin coat obviously).

That looks like what I'm looking for...which finish are
you getting the DuraKote or GunKote?
