I've already got my helmet (Shoei RF1000), but I am looking for a generic helmet that's good quality for around no more than $200, and that would meet both DOT and SNELL requirements. This helmet is going to be for a passenger.

And no, I'm not going to get a helmet that's perfectly fitted for an individual passenger. This passenger is going to be any female that wants to go for a ride with me. I figure I'll get maybe a large helmet (women have lots of hair) or possibly even an XL and get various cheek pads in order to fit the wearer. I go through about three to five female companions a year and there is no way that I'm going to buy a helmet for each of them.

Any ideas, gentlemen?

HJC AC series. Great helmets for the money.

Yep, HJC.
I've got an AC10. I think it's been replaced by the AC11.

Amen. They are Snell approved (except the half lids) and very lightweight.

Another vote for the HCJ. Make sure you get the AC series, it's more expensive tht the CL and others but it has a better constructed shell and nicer liner.

Don't get one too big, it will be uncomfortable and noisy.

Four or five female companions a year??? Way to go!!!

Not to mention less safe. I would get a Medium or at the biggest a large. I've not had a woman on the back of the bike that needed anything but a medium. Good looking girls don't have huge noggins. :)

Cheers!

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I'll check out the HJC AC-series. The AC-11 solid color ones seem to be very reasonably priced. And I'll get a medium one.
