View Full Version : American Made Reel and Rods?
Is there such a thing? ;P
yeap I think quantum still mfg their line here in USA and shakespeare for rods. Must fly rods and reels are made in the USA, but I have to agreed that alot of stuff is now produce offshore.
I'm not up on US made reels, but Lamiglass makes good steelhead and salmon rods in Washington state. They're just off I-5.
I had a Lamiglass fly rod blank made into a sweet spinning rod for steelhead and I love it. The whole deal cost me just over $100 and it fits me perfectly.
avet and accurate are both american made reels.
star rods (not to be confused with all-star) are made in florida
I would go with a Penn reel and a Star rod. That would be a great combo.
Cabela's has a few moderately priced rods made in the USA. Their catalog lists the models as made in the USA.
Like most things, US made fishing items are not as common as they once were. Even US brands are made somewhere else.
If it matters to you, vote with your dollars.
i lost a abu-garcia 6500cs rocket and a 7' star nicklelite in the drink this past year...i was depressed for atleast a 2 weeks.
the reel was $160 and the rod was $240;1
St Croix rods are still American made, I do believe.
I use Falcon Graphite Rods exclusively.
Proudly made in Broken Arrow Oklahoma.
I like Thomas & Thomas fly rods though.
(also made in USA)
neither shakespeare or Quantum are US made.
G.loomis and St.Croix are, with life time warranties on both.
