Had seriously considered a shoulder holster for my carry gun too until I attended the 4 day defensive handgun course at Front Sight.
Some things to consider:
1. How do you avoid one of the cardinal sins in handgunning that being muzzling someone you don't intend to shoot when you use a shoulder holster?
2. In a situation where you need to get your weapon in action quickly, a hip holster is far superior.
3. Weapon retention. Far harder to protect your weapon from being taken away when it's in a shoulder holster.
Hope this is useful for you.
Shoulder holsters are for the movies and TV. When drawing your pistol you will be sweeping an area that might contain innocent people--very dangerous. Stick with a quality IWB holter.

to member capt and danny, if you have to draw a weapon whether its from a IWB or shoulder holster to save a life, does it matter if someone might see you? even from a shoulder rig from a horizontal draw, the muzzle still will pointing downward, trigger finger ouside the guard of course,i am speaking of those person with fairly decent intelligent with firearm safty here, anyhow, shoulder rig is not for anyone but its better in winter,oh, you only see shoulder rigs on tv and movies? that was a joke right danny? btw, both de santis and galco make good quality rigs.
Any qualified defensive instructor will advise against use of a shoulder holster. It's not that someone will see you draw, it's the fact that you will be sweeping a loaded firarm in an arc, normally left to right ninety degrees or more, and possibly endangering innocent people in that 90 degree quadrant because of your nervous finger on the trigger.

Agree with Danny R. It's not a question of visibility but of safety. Pretty much covered the other issues in my original post.
Highly recommend giving this serious consideration before buying a shoulder rig.
Get the Galco and train with it! I dont know how this turned into a shoulder rig debate. The poster only asked what rig to purchase. I love the shoulder rig. The Galco conceals nicely under just a flece pull over. Its a nice option.
I will say shoulder rigs dont always work with your plans. When me and the wife go out of town (shopping). We usually go out to dinner at some time. Shoulder rigs are bad in these situations. How do you take your coat off for dinner? I usually carry in a 0TW Bladetech, right side. This way I can sit down (gun side against the wall) then take my coat off. Always ask for a booth.
I use my shoulder rig quite often during outdoor activities(camping, hiking, atv, snowmobiling, etc.). I also like my shoulder rig while traveling. Drove from Wyoming to San Diego, to Fresno, and back. Alot of the driving was at night while my wife and child slept. I liked having my G36 right with me when stopping at rest areas or gas stations. Yet it was comfortable for near 3,000 miles and 40 Hours of driving.
Shoulder rigs are a nice option to have. Dont listen to the nay sayers. Get one and learn to use it, even if your not in the movies!

MBR is makin sense, i agree safety is the main concern for firearm handling, that goes to any IWB holster as well, finger should be outside the guard during a draw in "any" holster, never put the finger on the trigger until you are ready to fire."any" qualified instructor should know this already. i hope we all are talking about street smart technics and not what goes on on tv and movies.one thing should be consider when wearing shoulder rig,if you dont carry spare mags or other item on one side to balance the weight, the holster will shift to one side and it might make you uncomfortable,i only wear mine when the weather is cold,it makes a faster draw than from an IWB holster cus i have to clear a sweat shirt which covers the weapon.galco and de santis both are good stuff.
Your gun will not spontaneously fire in the holster. The only time you should be concerned about sweeping is when your finger is on the trigger.
Oh my GOSH, I just realized that my shotgun, in a rack, is pointed at the door to my office. Every time I go in and out of my office, my shotgun is pointed at my head!!!!
What about the guns in the gun store. In the case they could be pointed at the customers.... and what about when they are being shipped, could the UPS guy point the gun at all sorts of people because the muzzle could sweep someone. What if....
See the ignorance in this.
Gun control means controlling your gun.
Keep the finger off the trigger, and don't pull it out unless you are going to shoot it.

djinco is correct, street smart is just that, common sense is certainly involved,i am not speaking of an arm chair pistolero(check spelling),i is a college student.safety is my first concern, the safest handgun is still a danger handgun in the hand of...oh well.
