View Full Version : What's the best 9mm defensive round? Sta. 18 01-10-2005, 15:20 ? chevrofreak 01-11-2005, 08:11 Thats a pretty difficult question to answer. I'd have to say the 147gr Winchester Ranger T would be right there at the top. G33 01-11-2005, 11:23 Agree...and a 124 gr. +P GoldDot. glock22357 01-12-2005, 10:43 And they have different bullet weighs and velocities, I carry their 115 gr. which moves out at 1425 fps. out of my G17, and they also have a 125 gr. which is slightly slower and will penetrate deeper. THey also have a 100 gr. and a 90 gr. which have even higher velocities. Just pick from that based on if you like more velocity/expansion or you'd like deeper penetration. Big Time 01-12-2005, 11:01 One that you can hit where your aiming at!;) MPG1737 01-12-2005, 11:01 There are too many variables to truly declare one round the best. The general concensus is that +P is the way to go. I personally keep my G-17 loaded with 135 gr +P Triton High Vel. You certainly can't go wrong with 124 gr +P Gold Dots, or 115 gr +P corbon. If you can get your hands on some, the Winchester Ranger T bullets are probably the current top performers. MPG1737 01-12-2005, 11:05 And I second what Big Time said. You just have to hit that target! glock22357 01-15-2005, 12:41 .......at 1425 f.p.s. from a G17 with almost 500ft lbs. of energy, excellent expansion and penetration!!!!It's as good as .357SIG but with less recoil, muzzle blast and rise!!!!And 18 rds. in the weapon. DonGlock26 01-22-2005, 11:17 1. 147gr RangerT 2. 147gr Golddot 3. 124+P RangerT or Golddots IMHO, Don vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
