In a few days I will be the proud poppa of an OD Glock 22. I have in mind a few things I want to change or add to the gun and I would like some feedback.

Ameriglo Operator night sights
SS recoil rod with 17# spring (I understand this is stock weight)
Extended slide release
and 3.5 lb connector (stock Glock Part)

Anyone see any problem with these modifications? All opinions are welcome (even those about how I must be smoking crack LOL)

I'm not familiar with the night sights. I've had great luck with meprolite. ~2

The only Glocks I have ever seen malfunction were sporting something other than the stock guide rod/recoil spring.

Is the gun going to be a carry gun or a "sporting gun"??

Little bit of both.

The reason for the SS recoil rod is from posts I have seen on the board.

I just removed my extended slide lock. I have had it on for like 6 months. I am practicing a new hand hold (new for me anyway) that was described on "Shooting USA" where both thumbs rest along the frame of the gun pointing at the target. Hopefully it helps with quick action shooting like IDPA. This new hold caused the slide to lock back because of contact with the extended slide lock. This hold is really natural for a 1911. I used to overlay my left hand thumb on top of the right thus keeping thumbs away from the lock.

You shouldn't use that thing as a slide release anyway from what I understand. Keeping the stock lock will keep it out of the way and force you to release the slide correctly. I imagine most people that have the extended lock use it as a release anyway. The only upgrades I have installed at the moment are night sights and a KKM barrel with a much tighter chamber for my reloads and lead bullets. Hope this helps.

Skip the spring and rod, they work fine as you recieve them and there is no reason to change it at all until you have a few thousand downrange.

Skip the extended slide release until you have used the gun enough to know the stock release doesn't work for you.

Skip the connector, they are easy enough to shoot just as they come out of the box.

Replace the sights with quality steel sights of your choosing immediately, the stock sights are JUNK.

Change the sights and leave it alone until you know what you want to change. These things work great out of the box, every time you change something you can compromise that. Just about every problem I have ever seen with reliablilty on a Glock has been bad ammunition or modification related.

I have the 3.5 and extended slide release on my 34 so I wanted to keep them as close to each other as possible.

I don't know about the rest of the stuff but I would get some good steel night sight's, on that I would recommend going with the Meprolight's.

Go with the Meprolight Night Sights. They work great and are reasonably priced. I wouldnt recomend the 3.5lb connector for carry. OK for compitition.
