I like Mobil-1 15w-50 on my barrel and other moving parts, but prefer a grease, such as Mobil-1 synthetic or Militec-1 on the slide rails and locking block.

I've used copper anti-seize with good results. Know I know its not an oil but it does keep the parts from seizeing and galling, and it resistant to great temps. too. I was suggest to my Father and I by a Glock Armor back home. Thats all my Dad uses on his 1st gen, and has no problems, plus is doesnt migrate. If you look its the same stuff they use at the factory too.
Other wise i just use tetra grease for everything in very small amounts. Or sometimes Mil- Tec, or just plain CLP.

Break-Free CLP! Just because it's been around for awhile doesn't make it any less effective. The teflon component in Break-Free reduces future fouling, and the lubricating component works well. It cleans well, too, especially with continued use. Critics of Break-Free complain that the "C, L, and P" will separate once applied to the gun, and that you must shake before use to mix the solution. I've never had a problem in eight-plus years of professional use.
MPro 7 makes a CLP now, and my agency uses it at the range. It is non-toxic, and the manufacturer claims the components will not separate in storage or after application.
CLP's are the best way to go, because you don't have to worry about cleaning with solvent, drying the parts, and then lubricating.

old breakfree clp was good. The new stuff does separate much more in the bottle. you can shake t up and still see the sediment. (doesn't taste as good either;V ) I still got a little of the old stuff left, circa 1993, and left the new stuff for the guys at work. Been using Militec for lube nowadays, and no problems.
I just got Ballistol (http://www.ballistol.com/) and I like it. I use it on all my guns now.

Ever since my first encounter with Gun Butter, I've had a strong belief that it is mostly Mobil-1 grease, which would account for the red color. Its probably just Mobil-1 oil and Mobil-1 grease mixed together....

I would tend to agree.
Red is probably the Mobil 1 synthetic auto transmission fluid. Years ago they used Sperm whale oil for transmission fluid because of it's extreme pressure lubrication abilities. Since you can't kill whales any more, they developed the ATF's using extreme pressure additives...and they dyed it red. A really good home made blend lube oil blend is 6 parts ATF (Dexron) 2 parts STP, and 2 parts Marvel Mystery Oil. Very slick, creeps into crevices, and really prevents galling...great on stainless steel.

Tetra.
I can guarantee you that Gun Butter has nothing to do with Mobil 1 products. I have spoken with Mark Turney one of the creators of Gun Butter and have put his product through many tests and it actually does what it says it will do. I have never found any lubricant that will not attract dirt and firing residue or that has the adhesion properties that Gun Butter does.
Mark is a fascinating person to talk with and he is not part of a big company, this is just something he starter to work on not planning to sell it. He has quite a back ground in chemical engineering I believe.

You have to actually try the product to believe what it does, I was skeptical to say the least but now it is the only lube I use and all of my customers guns leave the shop with Gun Butter applied to them.

another vote for gun butter
Going back to Mobil 1, can anybody tell me if 10-40 or even 0-40 viscosity is OK (which would be better ?) because we can not find 15-50 here in Belgium.
I use blue Sta-Lube marine grease. My G19's slide rail inserts and the barrel (right where it touches the slide at the muzzle) rusted with Tetra gun grease on them from the rigors of daily carry (I have very corrosive sweat) in this hot climate. It made an interesting rust-colored goop.
I would at least have thought that rust would not occur while the white Tetra grease was still there, but it did. I did everything I could think of to protect the gun, including wiping it down with rust preventatives each day, but I didn't go so far as to strip, clean, and re-lube the thing every day.
Using the marine grease, rusting has not recurred, even though the spots where the barrel rusted now had no tenifer on them. The slide rail inserts have remained rust-free as well. Not only that, but putting it on the connector makes for a light, nice-feeling trigger break.
Marine grease is designed to be high-tack, to lubricate and protect in saltwater environments, and that's what sweat is. Not only that, but it's super cheap-- one tube costs a few dollars, and will probably last the rest of your life if you only use it on your gun <g>.

Milcomm's MC-25 to clean and TW-25B to lube.

That's what I use on my Glocks and love it. I use the spray. I'll take the guns into the garage when I am finished with them and spray them down, wait 15-30 minutes, and then clean them. I really like the stuff.

I don't know about the best but...
I have been using Wilson Ultima Lube for a few years now. It's one of the best lubes I have used. It's thick enough that it doesn't run all over in the heat. Even if you wipe it off, it still maintains its lubricity. I've used 2 bottles in the past 4 years. The second bottle is still half full. You don't need a lot of it.

Weapon Shield (http://www.weaponshield.com/page2.htm) hands down.
M-Pro 7's CLP is good stuff too.
Weapon Shield for general lubing, TW25B for grease points.

I use grease in all my weapons.
I find the CLP burns off too fast, especially in ARs. Not only that, I hated seeing the CLP leak out of the pins, instead of staying where it should.
When I used Mobil 1 oil, it was better.
Now I just buy a tub of high temp grease from Walmart to last me a few years.

I've been thinking about using Mobil wheel bearing grease. I figured a tub will last me at least 3 years.
Are there any downsides to using it? I.E. degridation of the plastic?
I would not use any grease or any viscous lube. Mobile 1 10w-40 is fine or any light machine oil. Just don't use very much.
The downside to grease is that it traps dirt. You want the Glock to be dry except at the Glock designated lube points. Light oil will lubricate but trap minimal dust and grit. Only a thin film is needed. If you can see it, you are using too much.
