I just recently purchased my first 1911 and hve a question. When looking straight at the gun (down the muzzle) making sure it is not loaded of course, you can see a noticeable amount of room on one side of the slide where it enters the dust cover. The gun is a baer trs and the slide fit is awesome nice and tight but very smooth. I am wondering does the slide being off affect accuracy or anything else in a negative way?

No, the barrel and sights are fixed to the slide when firing so the fit on the frame won't affect accuracy. If the dust cover isn't rubbing on the slide, then it should be OK. If you have rub marks from the dustcover showing up on the slide then you may want to have LBC take a look at it. Keep in mind that Baers are hand fit so it may have some asymmetry.
