I'm starting competition again and looking for a good all around bullet weight for my new Glock model 35.
I use a 180 gr Hydroshock for duty, but feel that may be a little too much for competition. I have no intention of using a Hydroshock but 180 gr seem a little stiff for competing.
I'll be using factory ammo starting out but hopefully will be relaoding within the year.
Anyone use a .40 for competition and can give me some advise will be greatly appreciated.

several different types right now, i have 185 gr precision.. hard to get at the moment.
180 gr berry's plated, cheap and easy to get, work just fine.
180 gr Zero JHP 75.30 per thousand delivered.
Rainier makes a good plated bullet
Montana gold bullets are good.
Star bullets are good.
You can shoot lead, but i choose just to shoot plated or jacketed out of my 35.. Lead is not recomended for glocks as you know but it can be done.
I like the 180 gr bullets as you don't have to push them as hard to make major power factor for USPSA.. I've been using the berry's out of my G23 for Production division loaded way down.. very nice and surprisingly accurate. I would not use 200 gr bullets in your G35, i just think with the length of the bullet it does not leave enough wiggle room for any small problems that may occur once you seat them in the case..In 1911 platforms they can load them to 1.2+ which won't work in the Glock mags which makes them great for 1911/S?I frames.
I have not worked up a load yet for the JHP's, The berry's work pretty good out of mine and are fairly cheap to get, try Cabela's for them.
Powder wise i use Titegroup.. once fired brass(Brassman Brass) and Winchester small rifle primers.. Load mine to 1.135 oal.
If you do a search on the reloading forum for .40 loads you will find a whole bunch of them..
good luck / be safe.

your welcome, i think if you do the reasearch you'll find that most .40 competitors use the 180.. A lot of the 1911/S?I frame guys use 200 gr bullets.. you'll also find very few if any people will recommend 200's in a glock. can't load them long enough.
you can use lighter bullets and i'm sure a lot of guys do.. I just like the way my 35 digest 180's. and to me it's softer recoil then smaller bullets..
Using factory ammo is not a bad way to start, if you can save the brass.. use it when you get setup for reloading, brass for the 40 is cheap right now..
good luck and have fun.
Jeff.
