I just traded my Mil-Spec Operator w/ light for a new Sc 1911, 4.25". I'll take her out for a few rounds tommorow before work. I know the weight will be alot different but willI notice the shorter barrel??

Good question, don't know the answer.

please keep us posted on how she performs. I know I'm interested.

The 1911Sc models I've handled have been fit pretty darn well. That alone will probably make for an improvement in acccuracy compared to the Mil-Spec.

Is this one going to be a carry gun for you?

No, it will be a house/truck gun. I did like the mil-spec 1911 but was not comfortable with a lighted weapon if it came to investigating things that 'go bump in the night.

I have a taurus ti .357 and sort of wanted a funky alloy-lightweight 1911 anyway.

I'll blast a few mags tommorow AM and let y'all know how it shoots.

I will be selling the factory grips and both Novaks 8 round mags (as new) if anybody is intrested............. as they have been removed already in favor of some cool 'veteran' well worn wood GI grips. I sent them to drjones for possible sale but now I'm happy he sent them back!

I just bought an Sc last week...how much are you asking for the two Novak mags? And these are the stainless/nickeled mags, correct, not the blued ACT mags?

BTW, to whomever might be interested, I posted a review of my first (and, thus far, only) range session from Tuesday at the www.1911forum.com on the Range Reports page.

The longer sight radius on the longer gun would help YOU, but mechanically they are probably very very close in accuracy.

I only go for 'minute of milk jug' at 7 yards with autos anyway! I can see that I'll be needing a nice GI arched mainspring housing for a better fit in my big hands but other than that the Sc feels good. MAN is it light!

no chance to shoot it this AM as we are working a project real heavy right now, but I'll get a chance sunday AM. I will have time to install a arched mainspring housing tommorow though..........and get rid of those goofy hex grip screws!

I find that there is a big difference between a steel 5" and a lightweight 4" 1911, especially in rapid strings. They carry and present SO much better though!

btw, check out Virgil Tripp's cobra mags. AWESOME!!!
