View Full Version : Para Ordnance SSP
Any opinions on the Para Ord SSP(5" single stack/single action)? At $750.00 sugg retail it seems like a lot of gun for the money. I haven't heard anything good or bad about them. I wonder how it compares to the SA Loaded series?
I've wanted to get the same model also.
I've tossed around picking up a Para for a while now because I do like the triggers a lot. It seems that whenever I look for info on them though I always come across someone posting problems.
Always discourages me.
I have one of these pistols and have never owned a better 1911. It has been absolutely flawless through almost 2000 rounds. Feed is not to be believed. EVERY magazine I have tried in this gun feeds 100% even old military mags which do not work in my Kimber or Springfiled guns. Trigger was perfect out of the box, light, crisp and controllable.
The only change made from factory was to an arched mainspring housing as I do with all my 1911s.
I do not think you will be disappointed if you try one.

those are going for less than $600. i'm ordering one. heard a lot about the accuracy being far better than any other 1911.
I like mine a lot. Only a few hundered rounds through it so far, but no problems. It's at the smith right now having NS installed. When he tested the trigger it broke right at 4# and has only the slightest bit of creep. I'm new to 1911s, but he seemed impressed--asked a few questions about it.

picked one up a couple of weeks for $599.00 plus tax.went
to the range and shot 300 rounds through it not one problem
the thing shoot's were you ame it. i use to own a kimber
had to sell it.and then bought a dan wesson its a great gun
but the para ssp is cool.the ony thing iam going to change is
the main spring housing for a metal one.you wont be dispointed
in buying on.
Thanks guys. It sounds like a heck of a deal. Now I have to think up an excuse for the wife as to why the tax return was a little light.:)
Jay I bought mine last week, going shooting tomorrow. I got a good hook up and got it for $575.
Sharp lookin. If it shoots half as good as it looks then it is a keeper.
If anybody comes across probs with theirs please post it, I will search every so often to see if anybody had more to add when they get more rounds through ther SSP's.
I will put 2-300 through mine tomorrow (fingers crossed)hopefully.

I bought the SSP a few weeks ago. It is the best shooting 1911 I have ever handled. No slop and utterly reliable so far. No problems at all.
Even though they are pictured with the "hump" on the grip safety, mine didn't have one. I emailed Para Ordnace and was told that they no longer put this feature on the gun because too many people complained about them.
Took the SSP to the range today and put the ammo I had through it, 100 rds of Blazer. Ye ol SSP swallowed it up like Jenna Jameson and I wish I had more ammo. Mine has the "hump" but it does not bother me as of yet.
It is more accurate than I am. I am a huge Glock lover and have many Glocks but this SSP shoots way better offhand than any of my Glocks. I can reduce my groups by about 50 % and this is the first 1911 type I have ever owned!
So far so good and I will be looking forward to picking up some Wilson mags and put some rounds downrange.

I used Wilson 47D's almost exclusively with mine with no failures so far, choosing not to use the factory mags. I didn't question the reliability of the Para mags. I just prefer eight round mags to the factory sevens. The Wilson Combats are a very good investment.
This gun has caught my eye also. Sweet looking and the price wow!
Just saw it online at Gilberts Guns for $589.
Have heard nothing but praise about it.
Have to call the shop near me about getting one.

The customer service guys have been good by me.
Had a minor adjustment on it, and a few modification questions.
I have one LDA, and owned a second for a while.
The gun has a quarter inch of slack just before it breaks.
Besides that, I can find no flaw with it (CCW7).
I owned the shorter version 4.25 barrel and it was darn sweet

something about the sight picture ( kind of like a half circle) and hitting point of aim it shot amazing
