I bought this Kimber Pro Carry but I need one with a light rail. Is it possible to add one? Is there any market for this weapon in case I decide to sell it?

Springfield makes something very similar to what you are looking to do.

Doesn't Dawson Presicion? make an add-on light rail for 1911's?

Dawson Precision does make an add on rail for specific lights. They require tapping the frame for the screws. I'm not sure if they have one that will fit the 4" gun.
As to your second question, since your gun doesn't have a II after the words Pro Carry, yes, there is a market for it. You shouldn't have any trouble selling it if that's what you decide to do.
BTW, Kimber makes a Pro sized TLE with a rail.

^5 ;+ ;3 THEY DO?!?! Apparently I've been living under a rock.;J

OK, I did a little Internet Recon. Thanks for the help. A Dawson rail ($130+) and night sights ($100) are what I need to bring this baby up to duty carry standards. Not to mention the holster which will inevitably be a pain-in-the-arse to find. Am I better to sell this and find this TLE that has been mentioned or dump money into this thing? Why does that fugly MC Operator not come with a black frame???:soap:

Okay, if the pistol pictured is yours you will be much better off putting some money into it instead of purchasing one of the Kimber TLE's or whatever their acronyms are these days. Yours is a Series 1, which means it does not have the firing pin safety or the external extractor.

It also means that it was manufactured when Kimber was trying to make a name for themselves and actually cared about quality. Not that big of a deal to them as of right now.

If it were mine and it ran fine in it's present condition, I would send the slide to Novak's and have them replace the sights with tritium like you said you wanted. Please do not try and replace them yourself, I am saving you a lot of aggravation here. Kimber presses them in using a hydraulic press that uses several tons of pressure. It is very easy to damage something.

Will you be using it in an application that requires a weapon mounted light? If not I would keep the light rail off of it and use a Surefire hand held light. Always handy to have a flashlight on you, especially when you don't have to pull out your gun to use it.

If you look on GA/GB/AA or some of the dealer sites you can find an SA Loaded Operator and they are black or dark gray and for decent price. I have one and it is nice. The rail goes all the way to the end of the slide.

MPD59: Forget the light rail and get a pair of Crimson Trace Laser grips. You will never need a light to see the sites again.

Isn't a light not for seeing your sights but instead so that you can identify your target before you ventilate it? ;g

Not being able to see your sites in dark conditions, the chances are that you want be able to "ventilate" it regardless.
