View Full Version : Thinking of buying a 229 SIG any opinions>? Mud 01-22-2005, 13:19 Looking at the 229 R DAK in .357 sig of course just wondered if any one had opinions on these? G33 01-22-2005, 14:46 Excellent gun. The original plateform for the .357 Sig caliber. Enjoy. obxemt 01-24-2005, 20:01 Unfortunately I haven't tried the DAK yet. Most folks on all the boards say something like "I love/prefer it once I got used to it." The 229 in standard DA-SA is fantastic. I've got the factory satin nickel 229 for which I'll get a .357 barrel eventually. Mister Joshua 01-24-2005, 20:34 DO IT!!! Mister Joshua 01-25-2005, 21:53 here is mine... I got it today, and I am a proud papa... http://www.shellbent.com/gunstuff/sig229-3-640.jpg obxemt 01-26-2005, 06:30 I've never seen a factory two-tone with just a stainless slide. Pretty. da-glock 01-28-2005, 04:44 Bought one sometime back , but it wasn't the DAK , bought a Glock 22 with in 35 -40 days of each other , sold the Sig , I know it sounds crazy ,with the Sig having the single action trigger option , but the glock out shot it . So out of curiousity I bought a 5" match barrel for the Glock in 357 sig and it out preformed the Sig 229 also . Just my 2 cents worth of tinkering . da-glock TLHelmer 01-28-2005, 06:06 I have a DA/SA version and love it. It has been 100 % reliable and more accurate than most are capable of taking advantage of. silktrigger 01-30-2005, 05:06 yeah da-glock that does sound crazy I average 2 1/4 inch groups @25yds offhand in 2 sec intervals with my 229 maybe you can pull them in tighter with a glock but thats alot better than my g33 or g23/w32barrel could do (pretty close though). da-glock 01-30-2005, 12:10 I'm sure what I'm about to tell you is old news here , but thought I'd throw it out there just in case . Next time your pawling a glock , when you fire the first shot , keep the trigger to the rear and slowly release it till you here a click , stop right there and start your squeeze . It gives a way better trigger release , but you have to stop the release as soon as you here the click . But of course this is only effective in slow fire paper punching . I guess with two 21's and one 22 and a 30 , you could say I'm a little glocked out mentally . I have to tell you the 30 has out shot all my other glocks . On a good day when I got it right , she'll eat five out into one fat ragged hole . Oops , getting off subject there , da-glock obxemt 01-30-2005, 12:39 Originally posted by da-glock But of course this is only effective in slow fire paper punching . It's actually extremely effective for high stress combat shooting and fast multiple shot follow up. da-glock 01-30-2005, 14:41 A fellow would have to be really focused on his weapon to feel or hear that click in a hi stress situation . But then I don't shoot in hi stress situations so I am talking with no experience here .I'll have to try it it in rapid fire and see how it pans . I actually never gave it a try as I figured with the fast finger action and recoiling going on it would be mute . Also in a shoot don't shoot situation , it looks like a fellow could be opening himself up for an accidental discharge or oops , wrong person shot with that kinda pressure on a trigger in hi stress . But as I said , this is mere speculation on my part ,as I have not been in a shoot out , so I wouldn't know . da-glock Mud 01-30-2005, 14:42 Thats called FIRING FROM TRIGER RESET they train it in police accademies and some Law Enforcement trainers are teaching their troops that silktrigger 01-30-2005, 15:38 well da-glock I have tried firing from when the trigger just resets and it seems to help a little. The glock trigger just not for me but I still love the glocks that I do have and it looks like you can pull better groups than I can 5 shots making 1 hole at 25 yrds that is good I can get some of them to touch offhand with my 229 but need a bench to shoot like you do offhand. looks like I need to practice some more. da-glock 01-31-2005, 05:50 LOL , silktrigger I never said I shot those kinda groups off handed , it was across a delta rest on the hood of a truck . Also I can not do it everytime , I did say on a good day . But with the Sig I never got em in one hole . But then it never happened for the rebarreled G-22 either till I tried some 150 gr stuff . da-glock silktrigger 02-01-2005, 04:31 LOL Sorry I just a misunderstood that is still very good shooting. I can get them to touch @25yrds offhand but not everyone of them but still not to shabby if I do say so myself. However rest or no rest one hole with five rounds is very impressive. obxemt 02-01-2005, 09:35 Originally posted by Mud Thats called FIRING FROM TRIGER RESET they train it in police accademies and some Law Enforcement trainers are teaching their troops that Yeah that's how we train, but I never knew what it was called. The instructors may not have either; they always explained it in detail without using a label. :) Jailer252 02-07-2005, 18:50 I have 2 sig 229 one is .40 and one in .357.. Awsome pistols.. jcmios 02-08-2005, 20:04 I bought one in 1994 when they first came out in 357Sig, it is one of the most accurate out of the box guns I own and the trigger pull in both SA & DA are familial. I highly recommend it. dan_s 02-15-2005, 15:16 Go for it.. I love mine, and do recommend Hogue grips.. obxemt 02-16-2005, 21:36 Well? Did you get one??? ;f USPcompact 02-16-2005, 22:17 Originally posted by obxemt Well? Did you get one??? ;f I did. ;P Picked it up Monday afternoon. obxemt 02-17-2005, 09:10 Pretty gun. I've got the same thing but with a factory satin nickel frame so it's a wannabe 229ST! I hope to get a 357 barrel for it soon. kidcoltoutlaw 02-22-2005, 17:53 I have 4 of them none in DAK very accurate. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
