View Full Version : I didnt Like SIGS
OK LET ME START.
I trained with a local Pd for a while with a 226 in 9mm i liked it ok .
started shooting glocks then i didnt like the SIgs trigger any more plus the Bore axis feels too high
shot a buddies 226 in 40 cal
same problems
shot a 220
shot it well but
same probs TO big/ heavy
Today i fondled a 229 AND OMG I AM IN LOVE :) i think im gonna get a DAK in .357 sig
Any opinions on this weapon would be appreciated
PIX would be nice too :):)
I like the shortness of the 229 vs. the 226.
Great caliber(biased):)
Cannot comment on the trigger.
All Sigs are DA/SA.
Enjoy.

The DAK is Sig's new LIGHT DA trigger system. The traditional DA pull is about 10-12 pounds. The DAK has a 6.6 pound pull.
I carry a 226DAK in .357SIG on duty. Before that, I carried a 229 DA/SA in the same caliber.
correct me if im wrong tho it is DAO as ther is no Decock
That is correct. When shooting a DAO, the hammer falls and stays down after each shot. Since the hammer does not stay back, there is no need to decock so no lever.
That is another reason i like the DAK im use to glocks so i dont have to retrain my self to Decock before i holster

OXCOPS, can you give me your opinion on the DAK. I am going to get a 229R in 40 cal but cannot find a DAK to try. I have several Glocks and a DA/SA 226 in 9mm. I love my Sig. I will use this 229 for my new off duty gun. I have been reading in several forums about the DAK and think being left handed it would be great for me, plus I like a consistant trigger pull. Thanks in advance.
I like the DAK. I have found that, as with most people, the first shot in DA was the least accurate due to the heavy pull. The DAK has solved that by cutting the pull in half. The LENGHT of the pull is the same, but they WEIGHT is alot less.
I normally qualify in the low 90's. With the DAK, my scores actually increased a couple of points on average.
Will the DAK suit everyone? Of course not. But, for someone who wants a good, reliable DAO pistol, the DAK system is hard to beat.
If there are specific questions you have, feel free to ask.

I had a Para LDA. I'm not sure what the trigger pull was on it, but it was awsome. One would not think a DAO would rock, but that LDA sure did.

The Para LDA is somewhere in the area of five pounds.

All Sigs are NOT DA/SA action. I believe all models come as a DAO. Our agency was sampling some Sigs and they HAD to be DAO. :(
We looked at the 229 in 40, but picked the Glock instead.

All Sigs can be changed between DA/SA and DAO quite easily. The only problem now is that the new DAk system will not fit in old DAO or DA/SA frames. The DAK system requires new frame cuts that are not present in the older guns. However, if you get a DAK gun, you can swap it over to DA/SA.

I just got a Sig 229 in .357
A word of warning, .357 sig is expensive to shoot. I would suggest hitting CTD for a $140 .40s&w barrel so you can spend more range time with it.
Or come to the .357 Club and find all the great places to bulk order ammo.;)

I tried a DAK, there's nothing light about it. I would strongly suggest trying before buying.

It is half the weight of a standard DAO. That is VERY light.

I tried, I bought, and I like it better than the Glock trigger. Not that I don't like my Glocks, I just think the DAK trigger is nicer.
