I have a 70 series Gold Cup that I bought new in 1976. For many years, it was totally reliable with ball ammo. Now I am getting FTF in every other mag. It still has the 1976 Government Model recoil spring in it. Does it need to be replaced? I think I changed the spring when I first got the gun to a Government Model spring because the Gold Cup spring was supposed to be lighter for target ammo.
Thanks
P.S. If I need a spring, anyone have an extra they can send me cheap?

If it worked then and doesn't work now after "many years" reliability, you probably need a new recoil spring.
Sorry, you can't have one of mine, but anybody who deals in Wolf or ISMI springs will cheerfully sell you one for about $8 and it will last several thousand shots.
you probably need new magazine springs too.

Agreed.
Go ahead and get some magazine springs, they are not expensive, either. Just as well get the good out of the shipping and handling charges. I use the extra power version and recommend you do too, with hardball ammo.

Thanks for all the good advise. I'll pick up some springs at the next gun show.
