My most excellent wife bought me a very lightly used Kimber for my birthday. It hasn't got the external extractor or have II stamped on the side, so I guess that makes it a series 1? I've read a quite bit recently about Kimber quality issues, and want to know what I should be looking for as early indicators of trouble. I've fired 300 rounds thru it so far without any issues at all. Everything's going into the same 2" hole. It seems to run just fine on ball, hollow points and Cor-Bon Poly ball(normal carry round for my G30). I don't see any wear to speak of. The previous owner had only shot it twice in the two years that he owned it and ran into cash trouble. It was still very "stiff" when I got it but it seems to be breaking in a little and is much more accurate than I am. I think if it was going to be finicky, it would have given me some kind of indication early, don't you?
If it aint broke, don't fix it........
it is a series 1

Don't worry about anything getting broken. What you should worry about is the time you need to spare to enjoy the gun on the range. Buy lots of ammo and lots of time. Kimber are good pistols. Who cares if they have MIM parts. If anything gets broken, you can always buy parts later. Enjoy.
sbradley have your wife call mine.
