35 .357 Barrel Length?

One of my favorite pistols, Glock 35, was stolen a few years ago.
I'm purchasing a new one shortly.
One of the main attractions of the G35 is the .357 conversion capability. I also think the G35 is Glock's best balanced pistol.
I looked at the SIG 229S but didn't like the extended length (similar overall length of the G35) but was disappointed with the 1/2"shorter barrel and a pound heavier).
I love speedy bullets. (I considered the G20 when it first came out, but was extremely disappointed with the grip size. I know people who swear by it, but not my cup of tea.)
I've read the posts here concerning the .357 barrels and the DoubleTap ammo. I want to get as much possible velocity without
making the weapon cumbersome.
I'm going to send the pistol to Bar Sto and have a semi drop in barrel "fitted" by them.
My questions are; What length barrel should I buy?
The 5.3" factory length is nice but I would like at least a 5.5" and maybe as long as the 6" barrel. (I know the G24 has a 6" long barrel but it feels a little "muzzle heavy to me).
How much extra velocity will I get with the additional .2" to .7" of barrel length?
Will the extra 1/2" or so of barrel length affect the stock pistols excellent balance?

You will only gain 50fps at best from a half inch barrel increase.

A factory length Barsto barrel would be great in the G-35.That length is plenty to get the most from 357 Sig.The Sig P-229 only has a 3.86 inch barrel.Up to a point you can gain about 50fps for every extra inch.6 inches wouldm't even be an extra inch.I've tried G-24's with 6 inch barrels and that's just a bit too long.The G-35 has perfect balance.I'd get the factory length to keep the lines of the G-35.

I'm not absolutely certain about this so I'll ask..... Aren't factory Glock barrels usually a little faster than aftermarket barrels (inch for inch) due to the tight polygonal rifling? If so wouldn't the added barrel length of an aftermarket just make up for the lost velocity of the standard rifled barrels?

I've chrono'd some aftermarket barrels compared with factory Glock barrel.Velocity is no different in same length barrels.Sometimes the tighter chamber,(40's mostly), of aftermarket barrels can be a bit faster.
