View Full Version : Photo request
A posted photo by MURRAY made me think of a request. How about some photos of USED equipment; guns, knives, lights, holsters, etc.? I would rather see something used for real, instead of brand new. Probably why I'm not a collector, eh?
Since someone will most likely ask, we just got a digital camera for the family, but one of my kids will need to show me how to post pics. (how sad is that??)
Thanks in advance.

Carried daily, also used for USPSA. I think its beautiful, even with all the finish wear on the slide, which cant really be seen in this pic.
Looks good! Keep 'em coming.

Thanks DJ Niner!
The prior owner told me that he never holstered it and always kept it in good distance from his other toys in his safe. Lucked out on this one!!!;f

It is Colt's enhanced Combat Commander series 80. Art Leckie installed a Veldici long trigger, smoothed the action (4.5#), added Ed Brown's Memory grip safety, dovetailed tritium front sight with Novak plain black rear, stippled front strap, cocobola double diamond grips. Here is a link for a picture.

I always carry my S&W 642 in a Mitch Rosen pocket holster, but there are many days I carry it as well as my Glock 36 with XS 24/7 night sights. The S&W 642 has Art Leckie action job, XS small dot nights,
chamferred cylinders, rounded trigger and Crimson Trace laser grips.
I also carry a Kershaw assisted open Blur, Benchmade Mini Griptilian, Surefire C2 Centurian.

Pete, that 642 is great! Who did the sights? Shoot where it points? Price? Details, man, details!!

I have the XS small dot (regular?) night for my two j frames S&W640 pinned; S&W642 dovetailed; and Ruger SP101 pinned. I am not sure of the latest cost for the sight (~$65) and labor is a function of whether your j frame has a pinned sight or needs a dovetail cut. From what I understand XS will do the work but depending how close you are to them, you may need to ship it.
The front sight has a tritium vial surrounded by a white circle. I shoot 158gr +p loads. I set the front sight so just the vial is visible in the rear notch. It is really a function of the load fired.
I have been going to a local gunsmith for a number of years and felt confident in his work. I just dropped it off at his shop. Hopefully you have someone local that does great work. Don't skimp on the skill of the gunsmith. They quality of work is something you will live with for as long as you own the gun.
Leckie Professional Gunsmithing.
http://www.leckiecustomguns.com/
I also had him do an action job ( ~$95 - reliable yet so much smoother and easier a pull) chamfer the cylinder charge holes(~3$30. If you have a hammer exposed have the hammer bobbed ($35).
Good Luck!

This gun was actually issued to an FBI agent, back when they first started to use the 10mm. It's what started the whole 10mm stink!
Now, does that mean this is a rare gun? No... but it has been used! And has alittle history behind it...

Mud,
Now were talkin'! Your gear looks rather like mine, minus the broken Benchmade. I don't know about anyone else, but I always feel more comfortable around someone who has worn gear. It usually means they've used it often. It also shows what works in the real world, since the "pretty" stuff doesn't last. Great pics.
Chevrofreak,
Why cry over scratched Surefires? It shows they can take some abuse and keep working. My duty light is an original 6P from the late 80's. It still works fine and is only on the second lamp. How about that?
Thanks snafu i train hard and often with my gear and i carry most of it every day although i stopped carrying that AFCK in favor of the stryker
i keep forgetting to send that AFCK back to BM it would only cost 20 in warranty for a new blade but it has character now
Y you cryin chevofreak?

Nige guns!! Especially those Colts. Here's my Dad's Winchester .30-30. We shot it just this past Friday, and a bullet that was appearantly loaded too hot by the factory was fired in it, and I guess the case ruptured, because now the lever won't open all the way.

How'd you break the blade? Just curious. I have a BM 732 Ares BT2 combo edge....VERY SOLID knife. Axis lock is the best next to automatic and with the BM axis lock I don't see ANY reason for a assist-open knife although BM does make one now. Nice!

The camera on the tripod didnt seem to mind!!!! :)
And I emptied the gun...Plus this shot would have the same effect without the true feeling of danger to the viewer...
This is her opinion of what a rapest or other attacker gets to see!
Her carry gun is a G26.
lol, i had no doubt it was unloaded. as a photographer though, you be damn sure i cleared the gun myself before i let someone point it at MY camera! hahahaha.
yea, about the "what a rapest sees" bit, i have an old poster that says something like that... ill try and find it and then post it up.
Good picture by the way - i like it a lot.

Here's some used stuff-
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y259/pevrs114/IMGP0698.jpg
USGI Beretta M9
Benchmade OIF III Numbered Commemorative Auto Stryker
Casio Pathfinder
"Proprietary" Surefire E1D
Here's some used ones:
S&W 649 and auto Benchmade. My everyday carry as 2nd/backup.
My German PPK/s in a Ken Stout holster. Usually my summer carry when dressed so can't carry anything else.
Same 649 in the pix above but the way it's dressed out the past year or so.
S&W 459 that I carried for several years while on SWAT.
My 1st issued duty gun. S&W 39. This one has a super slick trigger, feeds anything you put in it, and shoots like a target gun. It holds a special place in my collection as it saved my bacon on 2 occasions.
My 2.5" Mod 19 that I carried in a previous life. Action job was done by the FBI smiths at Quantico. Slick as snot on a door knob. A real shooter.
Last of this series. My S&W 645 and KBar. Carried the KBar in the service. Carried this combo when I was commanding 2 drug task forces and we were out sneaking and peaking. 645 has a set of Wolff springs, will feed anything you put in it including empty cases, has never had a malfunction in the thousands of rds, and shoots like a target gun. A keeper.

Glock 23 carried almost daily for about six years on duty. With it is a much newer G19. The G23 has Ameriglo 'Operator' night sights and A-Grip. The G19 has XS Big Dot night sights, extended slide release, smooth trigger. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a96/lawman/19smaller.jpg

Man is it great seeing USED wepons and knifes. I thought I was the only one on this site that actually used my guns and knifes. With all the picture threads it looks like people buy there guns and sit them in front of the camera. I know I can never keep my guns in that great of condition, although I dont carry so yours are definently worse of than mine. But theres just something about a gun with a worn finish that is appeling to me. And dont get me started on knifes, theres been a few picture threads showing your everyday carry. And the knifes look like they are only used for opening letters;Q . Anyway great looking pics^c
