shot 45 gap in my 625 today

FYI

I finally shot up all of my "toolighttocycleinmyG37" 45 GAP titegroup loads in my 625 this afternoon. I didnt have any ACP loads to compare to but I was impressed with the accuracy of the GAP/revolver. This is the first time I have had the 625 out of the safe in a couple of years and I regret not shooting the GAP in it until now.

Only one problem - you guys remember that the extractor profile of the GAP case is slightly different than the ACP? Well, in my moonclips the GAP's are very loose.

While this makes for easy demooning from the moonclips, I accidently knocked one of the rounds out of my clip throwing the clip around the bench. I dont think that clip was bent, but it is one that I have been using a while, so I will retry with a brand new clip next time.

Another thought that I might try is to put a rubber band around the extractor grooves of the 6 cases to make sure they stay on the clip until I want to take them off.

I will tell you that I was thankful that I could easily remove them as as I forgot my moonclip stripper tool today.

I made up some rounds with 3 gr. of Titegroup and 230 gr. RNL bullets thinking I could shoot the 625 in IDPA SSR. Now I guess I'll just shoot-em-up.

I had to go to 3.75 gr. of Titegroup for a 230 gr. plated bullet to get my G37 to cycle the first round with 11 in the gun. If I had only 10 rounds total in the gun I could get by with 3.2 gr.

What're you loading to make it cycle?

The G37 load I have been shooting recently is a lead 230 over 3.4 grains of TG.

I agree with you on the need to juice it up a bit to get it to function with a full mag pushing up - slowing down the slide.

As I am a scrawny little weakling I do not like the force needed to latch the mag in, nor do I like the crease on the brass on that top round in the mag, so I try not to load 11 in the gun (Ill put a 10 rounder into a slidelocked gun - like at a GSSF match, or thumb off a round if putting the new mag in with the slide down). One of these days I may spring for a +2 but I really dont mind a 9+1 gun that I can shoot as well as I can that 37.

The powderpuff loads that I shot out of my 625 yesterday were some 155 lswc's that were below hodgdon's 4.7 grn starting point.

I have a 625 but I never kept up with the half moon clips that came with it.I never use the clips.I have picked up some auto rim brass but mostly use normal ACP brass.
