View Full Version : kimber custom 2 or other
Hey guys I have seen the light and decided to buy a 1911. Now I'm in a bind. I'm looking to spend about 800 bills and I want the best gun for my money. Im looking at getting a Kimber custom 2, or some thing similar. I really like the external extractor and all the custom features. I just want something that will function every time I pull the trigger. Any recomondations would be great. Thanks

I personally think Kimbers are greatr guns IF you stay away from their newer models with external extractor. Too many reports of problems related to this part. The internal extractor models are great or if you can't find one, Springfield Armory makes excellant guns. I have a full size Bi Tone lightweight that I would reccomend to anyone.
thanks...i do like SA. I would have thought the Custom II would be more reliable with the external extractor. The LAPD SWAT uses them you know. I'll just have to keep researching.

For most, the extracor is a non-issue...go to the kimber room at www.1911forum.com and there is volumes on it....I have a TLE11 (the LAPD SWAT gun) and it happened to come with an internal extractor but I would have gotten it either way...great gun for the money.
Kimber TLE II should be in your price range, you get front strap checkering and night sights that the custom II dosen't come with.
