Durability of K40

I'm thinking of buying my first 40. Currently own Sig 226 9mm, 686 2" 357, 625 4", FA83 44mag, Contender with a number of barrels and a few rifles.

My wife has a P9 and is happy with it. I like shooting it too. My interests are the K4044 and KT4043. As this would be a carry piece I'd like to practice a lot with it both for comfort and to develop a confidence in reliability.

Being a reloader I am very much aware of the problem of unsupported chambers in the 40 and its effects on brass. Would I have this problem with a Kahr?

I estimate I'd shoot about 2000 a year, preferably with half being hot loads.

What I like is the flatness of Kahr's. I'm currently carrying the 226 with 17 round mags but it's a tad heavy and I'm OWB because of the cold weather. This wont work when it's shorts weather.

I don't know about the unsupported chamber they have an offset feed ramp but does that effect chamber support? Don't know. I do not reload but have inspected a lot of my brass randomly and see no visible signs of case damage (of course I have not checked anything with a caliper to be sure).

I carry my K40 on a daily basis IWB in a Milt Saprks Watch Six and it is very comfortable to me. Being all steel it may be to heavy for shorts unless you are wearing a belt with your shorts.

What was your decision to get the Watch Six? I've been looking at the Milt Sparks holsters too. Seems like most folk like the Versa Max but I don't know one from the other.

I carry a Kahr K40 for the last year and a half and found it quite easy to carry. I either use a Hume clip on IWB or a FIST#8 OWB I have been thinking about a ankle holster. I also use a S&W Model 60 38spl in a ankle holster as a back up sometimes and during the really warm weather. I would reconmend either the K9 or K40. You could do alot worst.
