I finally took the plunge and got my local gun shop to order me a PM9 today. It should be in tomorrow, knock on wood. I got it for $610.00 out the door. That's tax, instant check and all. It was the best price I found around my neck of the woods for a PM9 with stainless slide and nite sites. I don't think I got hurt to bad. Any suggestions from anyone on practice ammo, carry ammo, a good pocket hoster or what I should do first thing when it gets in my hands.Other than that, I'm just so giddy I had to tell someone ;f ;+ . Be safe, Lazyace1975.
Congrats..I just bought a PM40 amd love it. First thing is clean it(take down) then shoot the hell out of it..Kahr sells a very nice rosen holster for 65..Good luck

LOL, my PM9 was so tight initially, I had to shoot it 100 rounds first before I could get the slide stop release to push out.
Congratulations, I use PMC 115gr FMJ which I get from cheaperthandirt.com at a great price to practice with. Carry is another issue. For CCW ammo, sometimes you need to try different hollow points to insure that they feed correctly. I found PMC Starfire 95 gr and Federal 124 gr hydra shocks feed best (have narrower point) . Good luck with the gun.

I picked it up today . I only got to run about 14 rounds through it before I had to go in to work.I had a couple of Failures to return to battery and with a fully loaded magazine the first round would nose down against the feed ramp and lock the slide back.Seems to me to be a magazine problem cause I can load the six round with only five rounds and it works fine. Should this be a concern or should I run about 250 to 300 more rounds through it first then go from there? Fit and finish are excellent and man did they add the oil to her before they shipped her. I had to wipe her down before she could even be handled. Except for the above problem I'd say all in all I believe it'll make me a good little pocket carry piece. Be safe, Lazyace1975.

My PM9 didn't settle in until I had about 250 rounds through it. If I'm going to carry a firearm, I usually only start relying on it after I've fired at least 200 rounds with no malfunctions.

Got another 100 rounds thru her this Sunday with out a hitch . About another 150 rounds thru her and she should be good to go ;) .Instead of a sling shot slide release, i just thumbed the slide release down and she went fully into battery every time. Can anyone tell me if these little guns can take alot of range time with no problems or are more a "carry alot, shoot a little" type gun? Thanx & Be safe, Lazyace1975.

After I broke my Kahr in for about 150 rounds, it has NEVER failed on me. I do not clean it after every range session, I carry it in my pocket full of lint, and I disassemble it almost every day in order to keep it in a very small discrete case.
It has never malfunctioned since break-in.

According to the articles on the web I've read, the poly Kahrs seem to be holding up well. Kahr has some links on their site in the product reviews section, and there are some sites I hit on google.
For what it's worth, I ran across a used PM9 for about $400, so what could I do but purchase it. According to the guy in the shop, it came in after the former owner ND'd it and didn't feel safe with it anymore, traded in on something with a manual safety. I already have a PM9, but the price seemed good. My original PM9 is in like new condition, and this gun has some scratches and crud in the crevices, so I figure it can be my beater, and I'll put my pristine PM9 away except for special occasions.;)
Frankly, there aren't alot of Kahrs around here in central KY, used or otherwise. I can't figure out if they aren't popular here, so no dealer wants to stock them, or if they are really popular, and the dealers can't keep them in stock. From what I've seen at the range, it's mostly a Glock, Ruger and Bersa world. In fact one of the range employees noted that I had Kahrs(as if it were rare), and he wanted to know what I thought of them, since he was thinking about buying one. So I told him. Despite their seeming scarcity, I think the poly Kahrs are the best CCW pistols available. Like I said, after break-in my PM9 has proven itself dependable, and my P9 never hiccuped even during break-in. My P9 has been dropped(accidentally) from a little above waist height, my PM9 has been sat on(again accidentally), and they've both dealt with the usual banging around they seem to get when I carry them, and no problems so far.

Hey c_w! I sit on mine on purpose when it's in my back pocket. :) That and just generally banging around a carry gun don't seem to bother it one bit. I was a little worried about the strength of the plastic, but when the gun is together and loaded, it's a pretty solid piece.

I'm the same way. I guess it's hard to get over my admittedly old-fashioned notion that plastic-oops-polymer isn't strong enough and durable enough to take much in the way of abuse. I guess in my head I know it's up to the task, but I still cringe when my Kahr takes a whack on a door-frame or wall, or when I sit down on it, or when it gets wedged between the car seat and console. In some ways, I think polymer may actually be a better material when subjected to this kind of abuse, since it does have some flex to it. I'm not even all that old, but when I bought my first handgun at 21, the only polymer gun was the VP70Z, it had already been discontinued, and the Glock wouldn't be out for a couple more years. So I still have memories of a time when polymer meant cheap and flimsy, even though my head knows for a fact that it's not true. Kind of like I know that the 9mmP is a good defensive round today, but I remember when the 9mmP had a poor reputation. At that time 9mikemike typically meant an FMJ bullet since that was the only thing that fed reliably, and FMJs are not good transferers of energy.
But as evidence that I'm capable of rational thought and ignoring old prejudices, about 25% of the time I'm carrying a polymer Kahr in 9mmP. The other 75% of the time, I'm carrying two polymer Kahrs in 9mmP.

No pun intended, by the way.
