Got one and had a few FRTB in first 400 rounds. Last 100 rounds have been perfect. It has no sights, and ejection port is not lowered.

If sights, lowered ejection port, and bevel magwell matter, get the regular mil-spec.

If they don't matter and you want a close replica of a WWII model, then it is a great buy for the $400 or so that you will spend.

Get it, shoot it, and you may like it as it is. You may decide you want to change some things. The GI or mil-spec SA is one of the base guns a lot of well known smiths are using.

You can almost have your cake and eat it too. It is a good base gun, but if desired, you can build on it. You can possibly make some of the mods yourself.

The GI will cost no more than most slides and frames, so for someone wanting to take the 1911 plunge, it could be an inexpensive way to get a fairly decent gun.

GI model here... great deal at a gun show ($375) NIB... only about 500 rounds through it so far but not a single problem. Great gun for the price...

Love my WWII model. It it my first 1911. Shot a mixture of ball and HPs the first few rounds and had problems with the HPs. After about 200rds, it eats HPs now with no problems. I would also recommend getting a few high quality magazines if you decide to get any 1911. I use Chip McCormick 8 rounders and they work great.
