Glad to hear it worked out for you Ironman99. Enjoy.

What's your point here? Are you saying that is what your local LEO/Military/EMT/Retired/Disabled discount come out to? Or are they just a regular dealer? If they are just a regular dealer, I would kill for those prices. If that is what they are charging for the discount, they are over buy about $40 unless that is out the door pricing.
That was the price for LEO/military/etc pricing before tax. And that is only with 2 magazines instead of three.
Go back through these posts, somewhere around pages 3-5. Someone posted the price list(in a MS word document) direct from Glock for LE/Miltary/etc. $398.20 From I have searched, $440 is a good price, but not the Glock price.
Make sure you ask, "Are you an Authorized Glock LE distributor?"
Many gun shops say they are Glock distributors, but they are not LE distributors.
Thanks for that tidbit; I'll have to do some fact finding about the dealers in my area.

They are not an "LEO" outlet.

The problem with this program, is that not all dealers know about it, and it is a hassel for the dealer to find who is the LE distributer in the area. GLOCK is very strict on who sells where. I am authorised to sell in the 6 New England states along with NY, VA, WV, DE, MD, NJ. If a dealer in these states wants more information on how to provide GLOCKS to their customers at the LE discount, call me and I will be happy to give all the help/information I can.

While it is true you can buy direct from Glock, alas MA state law only allows LEO to purchase not FF/EMT's.

This discount applies to military reservists as well. I'll be replacing my G23 this week.
As a military retiree, I have taken advantage of this superb discount program on several occasions. It also applies to the parts and supplies that go along with the firearms. I am getting ready to take advantage of it again.

My wife just bought me a Glock 30 for christmas. I'll be home from Iraq in about a 2 weeks. She spent 860 which included the lasermax. I want to buy her one and I was thinking about the 26. I use to own one until it was stolen from my house but it was a nice weapon. The deal is that I am in Hinesville Georgia at Ft Stewart. Could anyone point me in the right direction for one of these dealers that offers the discount. Or perhaps do any of them sell off the internet. I have bookoo documentation ie orders, ID cards what have you for proof. Not to mention Im a medic so I have my EMT cradentials as well. Thanks. Please email me at spcjohnsutter@yahoo.com

Since you have limited time. If you go to page 5 of this posting, someone posted the order form and LOI for ordering direct from glock. They will only ship to a FFL. You can look at this site:
Gunbroker (http://www.gunbroker.com/User/DealerNetwork.asp)
To find a local FFL and costs, if you can't find a local LE dealer close to you.

Welcome back. I'm stationed at Ft Gordon in Augusta.
There are 2 authorized LEO distributors in Georgia. One is in Smyrna. The other, Ed's Pawn, is in Stockbridge just south of Atlanta. I bought a G27 from them a few weeks ago and was impressed with their shop, employees, and service.

Wonderful
G17 is $398.20 in Portland, Oregon for the Military/LE price. I am a new Glock fan. I like SIGs, but two new 3rd Gen., Glocks for the price of one SIG is a big factor.
I just bought a 27 from Ed's Pawn in Stockbridge, GA and indeed they were great! I'll be getting another 27 and a 21 as funds allow.

Any other companies treat military people with LE discounts? The LE dealer in Portland, Oregon, thinks SIG (selected models) and Kimber might? When I called SIG they were at best unhelpfull!
Go Glock!
I've heard that Sig offers a similar discount, but haven't tried to buy one.

After reading the numerous, and conflicting posts re subject last night, I called Glock Customer Service this morning. "Amanda" confirmed that yes, retired military personnel are elibile for the military discount. She provided the names of two Texas distributers.
I called them, and both confirmed that they were knowledgeable of this. One distributer did not have the pistol I wanted, a Glock 26, but said he had some on order, and offered to call me when they arrived. (I accepted his offer.) The other had the Glock 26 in stock, and provided detailed instructions as to how to get to his subsidiary retail shop which would honor the discount. Pretty hard to bet this deal!

Many years ago ('87?), I bought a 1st Gen. 17, and was very disappointed with it, so I sold it. I've heard nothing but good about improvements since then, and wanted a very concealeable pistol. Plus, Dennis (employee) tempted me BIG TIME back in December. After a lot of research and talking to owners, I bought a 27 at Quantico Arms Woodbridge, the last one they had last Sunday ($399 + $2 transfer). I wanted night sights, but all they had was standard (they're fairly low on stock, holidays hit them hard). I walked in 15 min. before closing (1600), Walter and a new guy were packing up. I asked if it was too late (ya never know how long NICS takes with a gun show going on <5 mi. away). Walter said no problem, depended more on me than them. He says they never get outta there on time anyway. Jumped on the paperwork, phone call lasted < a minute, and it was done. Grabbed a couple holsters and I was out. Got in my vehicle, opened it up, just to make sure all was good before I got on the road back home, and HOLD ON! I completely forgot extra mags! Went back in (almost 4:30) and bought 2 more. In our haste (Walters wife was there looking pretty aggravated), I ended up with one 9x19 mag. Went back Monday and did the swap. Apparently we (strange for them) weren't aware that +2 really isn't w/ .40 (only +1). I'd already bought the Sherer +2 baseplates (real +2) Sunday to upgrade standard mags. Can't wait to shoot 27 now.
My point is, Quantico Arms has ALWAYS gone out of their way to help, and given me discounts, in BOTH VA stores. I've bought 2 guns in 6 months there. They say it's their way of showing "love" to LE and Military. The BIG issue I've witnessed for military is NOT ID: Military folks need copies of ORDERS, showing they're stationed in VA (VA residency req., not QA's). I keep mine in a sheet protector pretty much all the time in my vehicle. They can be faxed there too, no problem. A couple (buying a SA XD for her) did this on Monday, and it took less than 5 min. They luckily had someone in the office to fax them. Walter took extra time and care instructing them on XD's... nice guy.
If QA isn't a Glock master dealer, they should be. Due to the high concentration of LE, Mil., Fed.'s in the area, AND their discounts, I think they sell more guns (Glock, Sig, HK, SA, Armalite, etc.), than any other NoVA dealer. They truly are a "Tactical Superstore." If they don't have or carry it, it's high-demand, or there's a darn good reason (probably junk).
Off topic: On Monday, I also picked up a 10 rnd. SIG 220 mag there. SIG's website always shows "Temp. out of stock", yet QA had 2, so did VA Arms. Wonder if they make a sleeve for these??
For the Houston area you might try C&G Police supply. I dont know the Houston number but the Dallas number is (214)343-3900.

Just bought a G19 from the Marine Corps Exchange in Norfolk Virginia. $468 out-the-door, including three 15-round magazines, Glock Night Sights, and all applicable fees. The purchase also included a three-month membership to the Camp Allen shooting range.
Great military/LE pricing from Glock, and the guys at the Marine Exchange were great to deal with.

Im stationed down in NC. Currently im serving just north of Elizabeth City, (which puts me on the NC-VA border) can i drive up to the Norfolk Exchange and pick up a glock? Are the rules any different for military? Do i have to have orders stating that im stationed there? I wouldnt think so since its the exchange but it dosent hurt to ask. Anyone know?

I'm not completely sure, but I do believe you need to be stationed in VA. I'm looking into getting a G39 there, and was told I'd need to provide a copy of my orders, which I believe can only mean they need to prove my state of residency.

No, you can't. Same laws apply to military. You can only buy from the state you live in or the state in which you are stationed. You can go to Camp Leguene or Cherry Point though.

I've been stationed in Norfolk for about eight years, and am a Virginia resident, so I only had to show a driver's license with a Virginia address, as well as another bill or piece of paperwork with the same address (I used my car registration). If I hadn't been a resident, I would have had to show a copy of my orders, so I don't think you'd be able to come up from NC and buy a pistol in Norfolk.
Also, I just realized that I typed the total cost wrong in my original post. It wasn't $468 out-the-door, it was $486. Just a little keyboard dyslexia going on.

Cherry Point does not sell firearms. I would just find your local LEO dealer for the discount though. Camp Lejuene has the worst prices on handguns, and last time I was there, granted it was over a year ago, they were not honoring the discount. They played dumb like they always do.

I appreciate the feedback fellas.
I tried to pick up a 1911 at Lejeune a few years ago and they wanted a letter from my command acknowledging that i was purchasing a handgun and that they approved. ^9 I wasnt about to bother with all of that garbage. I dont know whether or not a rule like that is really their place to make, however those of you who know the Corps know they tend to make whatever rules they see fit as they go.

In NC, you have to get a permit to purchase each gun that you buy. In Onslow County(Camp Lejeune), the Sheriff requires that you have a letter from your CO, that is screened by PMO for disqualifying offenses on base(they are not neccessarily reported to the civil authorities), before you can apply for the permit. So the letter they were giving you was not a PX requirement. It is something that was worked out between base commanders and the Sheriff a long time ago.
If the rules are more lenient where you are now, you might be able to just go to the local Sheriff and get your permit or permits there, then you can go to LeJeune if they are going to give you a deal. At that time, they just accept your permit no questions asked. No command involvement is required.

Yeah, it's all just a big money making venture on the part of the sheriff here. You have to pay $10 for a police record check each time you apply for permits, and each permit is $5. They make it out to be a big deal here, when all they have to do is make a quick NICS call and issue you permits. Instead they make it into a big paperwork shuffle, and make you wait a week, at least. There are other counties where you can walk in and out of the Sheriff office with five permits in about 10 minutes.
I am getting my NC CCW permit in order to bypass all the BS. Once you have your CCW, you don't have to get permits for each gun purchase anymore.
The only thing that sucks is that I no longer qualify for the discount. I got out 15 months ago and I'm not getting any disability yet.
PIcked up my Glock 17 today from my FFL after I confirmed with Doug from Glock LEO sales. It's my first Glock. looks good, can't wait to test fire it. It came out to $ 438 including shipping and tax.

Glock Prices (http://home.earthlink.net/~anonymousjunk/I_O_Form_2005_2.doc)
I called Glock and found out that the only authorized dealer with military discount in N/E Ohio is Atwell's Police And Fire Supply in Painesville. There were two others he mentioned but one is in Columbus and the other in the Dayton area. I ordered a Glock 27 for $394.00 not including tax from Atwell's. The lowest priced Glock 27 I have seen was $537.00 out the door from other gun stores(no mil. discount). Now I have the extra $100 to spend for +1 mag extensions, 13 rnd mag, A&G Grip extension, etc.
Thanks alot, GLOCK!

Does this discount apply the the listed models in the OD finish? For example can I get a G19 in OD for $398?
Call Glock 770-432-1202 and ask them if the discount applies to the OD Models. I did not inquire since I was not looking for an OD Model.
Arrington Police Distributors in Greensboro, NC will give the military discount. Call them ahead of time to see if they have what you want in stock and let them know you're military so they reserve the gun for you and are aware you get the discount price. Can't remember who I dealt w/ when I got my G23 last year (Steve, maybe?), but they were very friendly and helpful.
Here's the web address:
http://www.arringtondistributors.com/GLOCK/glock.htm
Discount does apply to the OD models. In fact, I've seen the OD models discounted to very near the LE price in retail stores. Guess they couldn't move them.
Also, does anbody have a link to the 2006 price list, or are the 2005 prices still valid?

I could not make more praise to Town Police Supply in Richmond and Collinsville, VA. They have and honor the special LE/Military pricing. Talk about nice folks. They actually went out of their way to make my experience a good one. They are grade A number 1 folks. If you live in Virginia, they'd be worth the drive, no matter what side of the state you are on. The G26 is 398.00 or 472.40 WITH Night Sights. I bought the 26 yesterday!

Agree. I drove up there from Tidewater to buy mine.
Picked up my Glock 27 today and paid $418.63 out the door with the LEO/Military discount! Nothing special, factory sights, factory trigger and it came with two mags, brush, lock and the box. My hands are itchin since I did not get to try it at the range yet.

I doubt you'll get the discount unless you have LEO or military credentials. If you have a letter or something saying you're going in-country, you could try the dealer and see if they will simpathize with your situation. Personally, I'd give you the discount. However, I am not sure if Glock reimburses the dealers for a portion of the discount, which is why the dealer gets a copy of the ID.
Try your dealer and see. Also to find the dealer in MO, call Glock and ask for the name of the LEO distributor in MO.

I've read this entire thread and I still have a few (dumb) questions:
Besides the blue label on the box, is there any difference between a civilian and LE Glock? Just the serial number, maybe?
Can a LE Glock ever be sold or transfered like a regular civilian gun? Or can it only be sold to LE or military? (And no, I'm planning on selling it, making a straw purchase, whatever.....I'm JUST asking so if trading it for a new model passes my mind 10 years from now.)
If you order the gun through Glock or an out-of-state LEO distributor and have it shipped to your local FFL, you DO NOT pay sales tax, correct? You should only pay the FFL transfer fee plus the shipping, correct?
Thanks for the help!

I think I can answer these questions...
1. Difference is that LE Glock somes with an extra mag -- all mags are high cap for full size guns. I think they are exempt from certain federal taxes on the original sale, making them less expensive.
2. Yes, you can sell it to anyone. It is only sold originally to LE/military.
3. You only pay sales tax if you normally would. For the majority of cases, if you're out of the seller's state, you don't pay sales tax.
If you order direct from Glock, on their order form it shows what states they have to collect tax from. The order form was attached here somewhere around page 4,5..

Hey guys, about time this thing got a bump. I thought it was stickied but I had to search for it. But a smartass over at another forum made mention that Glock now offers the discount to anyone with a DD214(honorable discharge I am sure). That means, you don't have to be retired or disabled, a regular veteran now qualifies. I will call and verify tomorrow(or later today, I guess I should say), just wanted to bump this for now.

Have you checked on base to see if they are honoring the Glock discount? I heard they are selling them at their regular price, then giving out a coupon you send to Glock for a $100 refund.

I posted a while back that Streichers in MN wasn't going to offer the discount. Had glock call them and they said okay. I'm an EMT and FFighter. When I first asked for the price of a G26, not mentioning the discount, they said $440. When I went to the store and said take a $100 off, they said they could only sell it for $398. Where is the $100 discount?
I bought it anyways. Only need a valid EMT card to get the "deal".

About $100 off retail. Local retail prices are ~$499-$5xx. $398 is the "deal" price. Sorry if my $100 off was misleading.
I'm not LE or EMT, "just" a vet so $398 beats the retail price big-time.

For those of you who do not qualify for the discount (like me) it is cheaper to go to an online retailer and purchase for cost plus shipping and FFL charges. If you look locally you may be able to get one cheaper, but you will have to pay sales tax. For example a G29 costs 495 + 18.90 for shipping + 10 FFL to my town= ~$530 with no tax. Topglock and others sell st this price (although) I think that the "cost" price is still ~ $10 more than than the actual cost price.
That whole homeland security discount sadly doesn't apply to physicians. It applies to active military (reserve)/LE/EMT/FD personel, not anyone who works in the ER. A word on the active reserve... this does not mean that you are in a reserve unit every weekend. If you are on the reserve (call up) list and have you military ID, then you qualify too, at least my buddy did. He served for 6 years in the Army, is in college now, and is on some reserve call back list. He used his ID, bought his glock, and got the discount.

Don't feel bad. Streichers was extremely difficult to deal with at the beginning. It was like pulling teeth to get the discount and the service at the store left quite a bit to be desired. I did get the trijicon sights, but the G26 was only $398.
Oh, and when they gave me my receipt, the discount wasn't on it. I double check the thing, and have to tell the guy for about the tenth time to give me the stinking discount. He hands me cash out of the drawer to make up for the difference.
I will have my guard up if I ever deal with them in the future. Not a good experience!

It's funny how the story keeps changing. When I called, Jim was out of the office for a week, but the lady I spoke to said a simple DD214 did qualify me for the discount. I don't have anymore money anyway, so it doesn't really make a difference to me now.

Military Veterans do not qualify (unless retired).
I spoke with Amanda at the Glock factory who said all veterans with a DD214 qualified. I had her call my district Glock sales manager (David Bowles) who originally agreed the discount would apply. After further review with his manager, he called me and said it did NOT apply (unless retired, active duty, reserves...). Amanda at Glock has been advised of her mistake.
Im dissapointed Glock didnt have their story straight from the start, but mistakes happen.

Dude, I'm in the Guard. . . .
My Glock 38 purchased under the LEO discount program (I'm retired 28 year Navy) has now arrived at the San Diego LEO distributor. I ordered it on May 18th-of interest, the pistol was test-fired on July 3rd. The out-the-door cost, including tax and ffl fees, (and Glock night sights), was $558. The blue label box contained 3 8-round magazines.

I picked up a 19 with night sights, no issues, I just showed my ID Card, the owner told me that the offer is extended to retired military as well. Happy shooting!

I am looking to pick up my first Glock and after reading this post I contacted Glock to try and find a LE dealer in VA and was told they have none in Virginia, witch seemed like mis-information after reading this post. Does anyone know of a LE dealer in the Norfolk area, or an online store that gives the discount?

Why would they lie to you? They would be the one's to know best, don't you think? Did you ask them how you could still go about getting the discount? Many people are still getting the discount even without going through an LE dealer. They are ordering the gun direct from Glock, and having it delivered to their local FFL.

Ok... well, this is frustrating.
So, what GLOCK is saying is, that if we're LE, we need a letterhead stating that we are in fact getting the gun for LE purposes, and signed by our supervisor. (called and asked them that a while back)
BUT - IF I was an EMT or Firefighter, all I'd need is my ID, and I could walk out the door with the same discount... ???

Im dissapointed Glock didnt have their story straight from the start, but mistakes happen.

Called Glock, a repost, and disabled vets qualify too just show your VA picture ID card when you process the order locally or a photocopy when mailing or Faxing.

I will try to make it not so frustrating. A good portion of LE dealers will sell you a Glock, at the LE discount, with just your credentials. They don't require the letterhead.
I think the reason a big deal can be made about the letterhead, is because it was a pre-existing condition for LEOs, and they shouldn't have a hard time getting a letter in the first place. There wasn't any such conditions for the rest of the people that are being allowed to purchase under the GWOT discount.

Well... this agency may be a little* anti-Glock... and they make several accusations when buying stuff on letter-head. For example, they think that because someone buys it on letterhead, the agency owns it when I leave the agency (even though I paid for it).
I could ask again, but it would seem so much easier just to walk in, pick out any Glock, show ID, and walk out.

I work part time (2 days a week) at Smyrna Police Distributors, Smyrna, Ga. I have been told by a fellow employee that we are the 2nd largest GLOCK dealer in the country. All a LEO has to do is show his Dept. I.D., valid Govt issue I.D. w/ correct current home address, and he walks out w/ his choice 9mm, 357, 40 for a few cents less than $424.00. Night sites are $89.00, plus 6% tax. As has been stated before, active military, EMT, fire, and several other groups qualify.
Great deal on a great gun. No, we do not sell firearms to the general public.
Does anyone in Ohio know off hand who the LE dealer is in the Dayton area? Also I ned to know if there is an LE Dealer in the South Toledo area if possible?
I know I can call Glock for it monday, but its Sunday and Im flying out in the morning and wanted to know if anyone knew who they were.
thanks.

I'm starting with the Air Force in a civilian capacity this summer (WPAFB). I'm not sure if this makes me a "contractor" per the previous posts but as I will be a AF/DoD employee, I'm curious if I will be able to take advantage of this.

You can buy the gun as a gift, but the dealer has to know thats what it is for. Also, if you give the person money and they get it for you, it is no longer a gift, it is a straw purchase. It isn't limited to just the folks who can't legally own one. Having someone else to get it for you because they are qualified to get a special discount is the same thing.
Another "straw purchase" situation, is say you and your friend go to a gun show, and you find this Glock you want. You and your friend are both law-bidin' citizens, and both have CCW's. Just turns out you dont have a second form of ID, and your friend does. So then you just have your friend do the paper work and pay for the gun. Thats a straw purchase. We see these things a LOT at gun shows. Thats why a FFL holder has the right to refuse any sale if he/she isn't comfortable with whats going on, without any worries of discrimination suits etc etc.
The next show that the ATF is on hand, I will get a more clear definition.
Could anyone point me to some more material on this "Straw Purchase" stuff? From what I'm reading, it would be alright if my father purchased a pistol and then gave it to me as long as I don't pay for it? Can he buy it with the intention of giving it to me? If he has to mark the "yellow box" on the back of the form to indicate that it is a gift, will they still honor the discount?
BTW, I went to the ATF website and pulled this information:
-------------------------------------------------------
Do straw purchases only involve underage customers?
Not always. A straw purchase is a purchase in which the actual purchaser uses someone else—a.k.a. the “straw person” to make the purchase and complete the paperwork. Generally straw purchasers are utilized because the actual purchaser is not eligible to conduct a transaction because they’re in one or more legally prohibited categories, such as being addicted to a controlled substance, being a felon, being underage, and so on.
However, a straw purchase occurs even when the actual purchaser is not a prohibited person. The crime committed is knowingly making a false statement on the Form 4473 indicating that the straw purchaser is the actual purchaser, when this is not the case.
Felons, who are also prohibited from conducting a firearms transaction, will sometimes attempt to obtain guns this way, because they wouldn’t pass the NICS background check and could not truthfully fill out Form 4473. If, however, Bobby was with his father or other legal guardian, and his father was legally eligible to obtain the handgun as a gift for Bobby, his father would fill out Form 4473, undergo the NICS check, and assume legal responsibility for the transaction and the gun. Bobby’s father could truthfully complete the form 4473 to indicate that he is the actual purchaser because he would take title to the weapon and then transfer the firearm to Bobby as a gift.
What if a customer who qualifies to own a gun buys a firearm as a gift for someone else?
The same rules apply. A transaction is legal as long as the person who fills out form 4473 does so truthfully and completes it as the actual purchaser. In that particular situation, we usually like to make sure they are aware of the rules associated with ATF I 5300.2. Again, you should feel comfortable denying the purchase if you think the customer is being dishonest in any way.
----------------------------------------------------------
So what it looks like to me is that my father could purchase the firearm as a gift for me (I am way over 21 :tongueout: ) and he would still receive the discount, and no one would run afoul of any laws. Am I interpreting this correctly?

Your assumptions are correct. The individual dealer may also have the right to decline the sale, since it is not actually for a LEO,etc. As long as your dad does not go into any detail, rather just goes in, makes the purchase, then once he gets home, presents you with a gift, no laws are being broken.

It is up to the local business as to how much leeway they give. Our local dealer would not extend to a civilian, I don't think.

Read back a few pages.
Call GLOCK and ask them for a list of law enforcement dealers in your area, those are the places that can sell them to you at that price.
You can supposedly purchase it directly from GLOCK, but they will have to ship it to your FFL.
I called Glock, was transferred to a lady to speak about the discounts. I quoted the prices of the G17 (w/various sight options) from the Individual Officer Price Sheet someone posted a few pages back. She said those were the LE / Mil discount prices. She told me there was one dealer in the Las Vegas valley that would / should have those discounts. Called and they only gave the discount to first responders. The lady at Glock did say I could purchase from them, $10.00 shipping.
She did say I could get the discount if I sent in documents of my military retirement.
Question on taxes. I did not ask, and just noticed on the bottom of the first page:
*TAXABLE STATES: CA, CO, FL, GA, HI, ID, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NV, NM, NY, NC, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI, WV
Will I be charged tax if I order from Glock? That would suck. I love avoiding state tax!

Glock is licensed to do business in those states so (as an individual) you will be charged tax. Allegedly, (Police) Department quantity purchases are exempt - this makes sense.
Did you ask Glock about a delivery timetable? When I called them they said if I ordered from them it may take 3 months to get it (+ FFL fees). I checked with the LE/Military dealer in Tampa and they had just sold their last one - expected new stock from Glock in 6 weeks. I went to my local dealer and negotiated a price about 70 bucks (+ the tax on 70 bucks) more than the LE/Military price (delivery: 2 days). I had to leave town and couldn't wait 6 weeks and then have to return to purchase/pick up the gun so I got it at my local range/dealer.
Just FYI; it was a G30 for $479.00/LE at Tampa LE dealer. I've seen prices about $10 cheaper (LE) on GT so for some reason LE prices vary around the country, from dealer to dealer.

As just a civilian, I do not begrudge LEOs, military, FBI, Secret Service, etc. receiving this discount. That having been said, why are EMTs, firemen, and volunteer firefighters,( who many places are not allowed to carry on-duty by local regs.)receiving this discount? That kinda rubs me the wrong way.

Not everyone in the military is "allowed" to carry firearms on duty, either. You must actually qualify with a specific firearm before they let you use it in the Coast Guard. And far more in the CG (and Navy) are NOT going to be allowed to carry, than those who are. After you qualify, and when a firearm is required for duty, firearms are checked out of the armory for any specific missions, patrols, or watches. In no case (except some CG/Navy investigative agents or couriers) will you see CG or Navy carrying like LE, FBI, or Secret Service. Not off base, anyway.
Interestingly enough, I carried a 1911 .45 on watch in the Navy and NEVER officially qualified. As a matter of fact, I had to practically beg the Gunners Mates to let me go to the range with them and fire it at all. Yet, every time I would assume the watch, the off-going Petty Officer would hand me the gun belt (complete with 2 spare mags). At the end of my watch, I would do the same for the Petty Officer relieving me. It all seems rather unbelievable today, how that could happen.
In Navy boot camp, we had to shoot 5 rounds of .22 (rifle) "somewhere downrange". That used to be the extent of Navy firearm training to the masses. When I went to apply for my Florida CWL, they accepted my Navy DD-214 (discharge document) as proof of firearm proficiency - no class necessary. I have complete confidence in my firearms shooting and safety skills as my Dad exposed me to "safe" shooting when I was about 8 or 9, AND I started shooting competition at 17 - even before the Navy. Still makes one wonder, though...

If you read the whole thread ( I know it's long) this point seems to change every once in a while, as does whether or not a regular veteran with a DD214 qualifies. First they say no, then they say yes. Then they say just a DD214 with a current government contractors license, then they so no, active duty only, then active duty and retired, then active duty only. I think it just depends on who you talk to. Personally, I think it should apply to disabled vets. If you think about it, especially in these times. There are quite a few disabled vets that became that way on the front lines, or at least in a combat zone. Aren't they the true heroes, that have to live with their disabilities for the rest of their life? Why shouldn't they qualify?

Let us all call and ask for Doug.
Here is my earlier post on Doug's explanation when he gave me the info on who is who. Ask for Doug and a letter of explanation and ask why it is there so many interpretations within GLOCK on this subject. Request a policy statement, in writing" and be firm about it. Indicate it needs to be done to to bring clarification on this issue and to increase customer satisfaction, bring coherency and compliance to the program. I know I will be calling on Wednesday. ;)

I just spoke with Doug at GLOCK’s Military/LEO/EMT sales department.

Military/LEO/EMT you qualify for the discount though your LEO dealers!
My Veteran's Administration disability card if all I need to qualify for the

I hear you guys. I did read every post in this thread twice (really). It does appear that it depends on who you talk to at Glock and you your LE dealer is. I was thinking of either trying to find a more understanding LE dealer, or calling Glock and talking to someone who agrees with the disabled veteran discount and purchasing one through them.
I will call again tomorrow and ask for Doug. I think that it was funny that when I was asking Lisa from Glock about disabled veterans, I heard the sound of pages being flipped in the background like she was looking up the answer...

Just some food for thought:
If an outcry is heard loud enough, rules will be changed. The problem is, you cannot control the change that is made. If enough of an outcry is made, and public pressure is great, GLOCK may come to the decision to eliminate the program altogether. If faced with the option of adding yet another group to a program, and the group becoming too large to manage, then the choices could be to eliminate the program or narrow it considerably. I am sure no one would want to see the military eliminated entirely. I can also understand anyone wishing to become part of the group. I also see how it seems part of the country lives with one set of rules, and another lives with another set. Seemingly all from the same rule maker. I am not advocating anything other than deep thought be given to any actions and possible side effects, prior to those actions being advocated.
On a different note: My son went to GLOCK's offices today and had night sights installed on his GLOCK for $60.00. He must have hit some one at the right time, and in the right mood. He also got a number of the little "freebies" they will sometimes pass out. Those of us in the metro Atlanta area should take advantage of this generosity of this firearms maker. And don't forget to say thanks.

What on earth are you talking about? Glock has extended their discount program to varying qualifying people for years. Even before they announced it in the 2005 Annual. People are calling and asking if they qualify, I don't see how that is going to make Glock stop offering the discount to the military and others. Even if it did. Oh well, they treated us well for a long time. And they have been the only manufacturer to do so. They have already done more than anyone else.

Oh well, they treated us well for a long time. And they have been the only manufacturer to do so. They have already done more than anyone else.
Sig has a discount program too. $650 for your standard Sigs and you need to order from them directly and have it shipped to your FFL.
That being said, I'm loving my G19 I got last month on discount (armed security). $477 with Trijicons

This will be good for me once I get my EMT certification. Hopefully I'll finish it by next summer.
However, have a question.
If my Dad were buying it for me as a birthday present, and I gave him my EMT cert. card to save him money, would that work or would it be considered a straw purchase in some sort of money? Just figured if he decided to buy me one (it can be gifted to me after I turn 18 this fall, so next summer would be good and legal), I'd ask to see if I could save him some cash.

Nope, they post those states just to piss you off. ;)

For you folks in and around the Denver area, I'm just posting to give kudos to "Dave's Guns". Just bought a G19 today (Military Discount) from these folks and it was a smooth process. Decent rate on shipping up to the Cheyenne WY area. $415 shipped. Once I get some more funds I'm either going to pick up another G19 or a G26 and order it over the phone, since they will have my info already, instead of driving my butt down there again.
FYI:
Unfortunately Dave's Guns closed down in October 2007.

I have recently ordered a G17 thru the Homeland Security program directly from Glock. Does anyone know how long it typically takes for Glock to ship the gun out?

They quoted me about 6 weeks for a G20 and said others should be about 4-6 weeks depending on what they have in stock. I know whatever it is will still feel like forever!!

Picked up my G19c for 422 with my military ID. G19 would have been 399.
Great shop, good selection, and very knowledgeable staff.

I just got my new 35 from my local dealer. They just photocopied my retired ID card.
$100 dollars off and an extra mag. A good deal as far as I am concerned.
I had planed on buying a new 22 for target shooting, But for less than $50 bucks difference I was more than happy to buy the Glock instead.
Anyone have a clue? Military brats more than likely do not count, but it worth a shot

Reading comp 101 was a blow off I take?
Not unless your LEO, fire department, Active duty, National Guard, a disabled or retired vet etc...

Your ID. You are responsible to fill out the paper work so get a cash gift and do it yourself is the only way.

Is there any limit on how many pistols one can buy under this program..?
Call Glock, the Georgia number, and ask for LE sales and tell them to help you out.

wparkinson, yes, you are limited to only two pistols at the reduced price.
Not applicable to past/retired military?

I checked it out, many moons ago and believed the retired military was included? Brain fade. Check yourself at Glock's headquarters.
I'm retired military and I used the discount 5 times.

Here in Fayettevile, NC Jims on Yadkin road is a SIG and Glock LE dealer. They have had the program going there for a couple of years. As far as I know it does apply to retired military.
