Hello all, I have been going through some of the threads here at GT and came upon the subject of recalls. Could someone tell me if the ffl dealer is responsible to have it fixed before he sells it to the consumer? Thanks in advance for your response.

Dear shooter,
Gun dealers are right on par with used car salesman, they will lie, cheat and mislead to make a sale... I dont believe any of them would do the responsible thing if they had a "recalled" glock in their inventory and tell the customer, much less send it back to the factory for them.. Especially after the sale, just like used car salesman, wont have anything to do with YOU once he has gotten his profit from you.. as i have said before and say it like the gospel, "the only difference between used car salesman and gun dealers is car salesman dress a little nicer" my .02
1. was not a recall.
2. dealers were not notified.
Based on my experience in one state only.
This was one of two times I remember where Glock Inc. was just terrible with customer service. Glock has never held the civilian market in high regard. IMHO
(Glock does not think much of the internet or GT either.)
Referring to the frame rail breakage problem, my dealer had never heard of it (come to that, I wouldn't have known about it myself except for GT). I told him about it and he simply considered it a non-event. Definitely he did not check whether the Glocks in his display case were affected, though some of them could have been, and he did not send any of them back before selling them. That said, after I checked with Smyrna and learned that the G26 I'd bought from him was affected, he did take care of shipping it to Glock for me.
He's shipped other Glocks for me when they had problems that required upgrades. So the bottom line is that I personally have no reason to complain, though I don't know whether his other customers would say the same.

Well I take great offence at your blanket statement about gun dealers. Maybe you have had some bad experiences from dealers you have bought from, and I am sorry to hear that. In my shop I have 1 major rule, let the customer choose his gun, be honest with facts only and respect the customer as if it were your Mother. We do not push sales or give our uninformed opinions. If we have a used gun we disclose all the facts as we test fire each used gun and if it has a problem we fix it before we sell it. For new guns if a recall is in place we contact the manufacture and have them issue an RMA and send them in before we offer them for sale. We want repeat customers, with out them we would soon be out of business. We serve our customers needs whatever they may be. We offer full service gunsmithing, repair and cleaning of all guns whether they were bought from us or not. Every gun that we sell comes with a free annual inspection and cleaning for three years free of charge.
I think you need to visit a few more shops to find a good honest dealer before you slam us all as if we were out to screw everyone that comes through the door.

Jim I think you need to realize that are an exception to the rule. Out of at least 20 shops I've been to in my state, I will only deal with one and I know I'm not a minority around here. Real shops with good people are EXTREMELY hard to find.

Well buddy, you are in an industry like car dealers where one out of a thousand are honest... I have been buying, selling and trading guns for almost 15 years and have been to just about every gun shop in my state and the ones around it, to this day i have found ONE that is O-N-E that I trust and will treat me right. If you are a honest gun dealer, good for you, you are in the .0000001% that are...
