View Full Version : .50 as an investment?

I've always admired the .50bmg for the power it has. I figured sometime in the future, I'd pick one up. However, it looks like that may be a futile task with the laws heading in the direction they are.

It seems that several people/places are looking to ban the .50bmg for sale to civilians.

Realizing this, do you all think it would be a good idea to pick up one or maybe even two NOW, and then if/when they do become banned, and get jacked up by a few hundred percent (just like machine guns), wait a year or two and then turn a profit?

I'd probably stil keep one...just for plinking ;)

Let me know what yall think. Thanks:)

Sounds like a good idea, As for which of the 50's to buy that depends on how much coin you have lying around..

Well I doubt any bank would front me the money, but family, that's a different story.

I have enough saved to buy two easily. Most likely I'd go for Barrett because they are so well known.

I've been doing some thinking though. If I could get my hands on $50k, if/when the .50bmg was banned, I could easily make $200,000 or more by selling them.

Just throwing different idea out there.

Thanks for the reply.

Just like all the folks who were going to get rich stocking up on "pre-ban" mags and "assault rifles". Not doubt some of them mad a few bucks, but doubt anybody is sitting on the beach in Rio right now on the proceeds of their gun deals. I had a few of each, that I could have made a fair profit on, but bad thing was, I didn't want to part with the toys!!;f

BEWARE buying a .50 as an investment, as you will most likely go broke feeding it!!;f

On the other hand, if wifey is giving you a hard time about spending th money, "the investment" ploy may work!!

Yeah, if you're serious, buy the top dollar units. I bought an AR-15 last year for the same price I could have bought a semi auto Barrett when I first started thinking about getting a big gun. Nothing wrong with the AR-15, but already have the itch for even more fire power!!

Purely boned as an investment in Kali. Bought two in December with the understanding that our silly ass laws prevent me from ever giving/selling/losing in a poker-game/otherwise transferring in-state.

Thanks Arnold, you silly Democrat-poking bastard.

If you co-register them with your wife or kid, that person can keep it in CA. If not, your widow can drop it off at a gun dealer who can then sell it to an out of state party.
