Thanks for any help! Wolfgang 02-02-2005, 18:08 Springfield mil-spec for about 500 or parkerized loaded which comes with nite sites for around 650. rjjencke 02-02-2005, 18:49 Just checked out the mil-spec on Springfields site....Looks like a solid reasonable deal. Thanks HERB 02-02-2005, 20:09 Try a S&W best buy for the buck, and completely reliable out of the box. RojasTKD 02-02-2005, 21:28 Shot gun news had an add for Springfield Loaded model w/ nite sites for $599 and the Stainless Loaded for something like $685. The Springfield Mil-Spec is a nice piece, but I think youo'd like the loaded with it's extra features. The S&W 1911 also apears to be a nice gun for the money. RojasTKD 02-02-2005, 21:39 Should also mention that for the money Rock Island Armory and Armscor make a nice 1911 (Both made by the same people). Rock Island is a basic GI WWII configured 1911 that can be had for about $350 or so. The Armscor is comes with the extra goodies suck as upgraded grip safety, extended Ambi-saftey, extended slide release and upgraded sites. I've seen the stainless model going for around $450. the non-stainless should run a little less. They make a great inexpensive first 1911. rjjencke 02-02-2005, 22:44 Thanks for the info RojasTKD I will definitely check in to that. And yeah, it would be nice to have some extras!:) cmb2874 02-02-2005, 22:51 I can sell you one... 1911nut 02-07-2005, 16:22 The least expensive 1911 that I've heard of is from Norinco. They don't import them into the US anymore but they show up at gunshows with some regularity. While they are about the least expensive, they have one of the best reputations for working out of box with few problems. They are from Communist China but are reputed to be an excellent value for a Mil Spec type 1911 and are a good base for customizing. RojasTKD 02-07-2005, 22:08 Norinco would be an excellentv choice as a bargin 1911, if you can find one. The prices have creaped up as the are few on the market. A while back there was a place in Miami that found a few NIB and where asking $395 (no more left). A good deal, still for about $50 bucks more you could get a Springfield with a life time warentee. hitecrednek 02-08-2005, 07:23 Springfield "loaded" Goood quality, good price, good customer service; more choices than JMB could ask for. ronnie1970 02-09-2005, 23:44 Originally posted by 1911nut The least expensive 1911 that I've heard of is from Norinco. TedG 02-14-2005, 23:15 "FIRST" 1911? It's been 35 years since I said that and I've owned plenty since. My suggestion? Get the cheapest well made milspec 1911 you can find (SA?) and spend the rest of your money on practice ammo. If you are more of a martial artist than a bullseye shooter, this gun will serve you well. 6" groups at 10 yards is more than adequate for a street gun. A 5 or 6 pound trigger will keep you out of trouble. Forget about fancy sights, triggers, hammers, and stuff like that. None of them will make any difference if you should ever need the pistol in a CQB encounter. Again... spend your money on ammunition and become better than your competition. sifu 02-15-2005, 19:20 I would agree with TedG. Go cheap, see if the 1911 is for you. Get good with practice. Do your homework and buy what meets your needs. Have fun and stay safe. Scrappy 02-17-2005, 18:45 Para SSP has to be about one of the better 1911's right now. Under $600 and I have heard nothing but praise about it. http://www.paraord.com/products/pxt1.jpg http://www.paraord.com/pages/pxtspecs.html Gilberts guns has them for $589 right now. APD 02-17-2005, 19:22 ^6 SSP rocks. I love mine. Wolfgang 02-17-2005, 19:42 Originally posted by TedG [B. 6" groups at 10 yards is more than adequate for a street gun. [/B] 6" groups at 10 yards ??? You're kidding, right? You mean 100 yds?:) okie 02-17-2005, 20:11 Go with a "loaded model" if you can on the SA line. Lots of extra goodies for a fair price;) vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
