Is it possible to get a K9 grip shortened to the length of a KPS covert model?
Thanks,

Sure I've seen smiths chop 1911s before, but never a kahr. I suppose it's possible, but it will cost you.

So not exactly the dremel job that I did on my 27? :) Has Kahr ever offered them this way? I like the size of the covert, but if I buy a Kahr, I want one of the all metal models. And I was hoping that they offered a short grip in the K9. I've handled the mk models, but they are not what I am looking for. I would love a T9 with a short grip, but that may be too much to ask. Is there anything in the grip that would be harmed by shortening it?

SHORTEND: Use the various gun forum's "Buy-Sell-Trade" forum and put your K9 up as a trade for a K9 Covert. I know I'd make the trade if I had one. Someone out there will trade you. Also if you want to buy a K9 or a K40 Covert, they are sometimes listed on www.gunbroker.com or www.gunsamerica.com or www.auctionarms.com
Several years ago I had a K40 Covert, it was a great gun but it always felt a little nose heavy to me but I wish now that I still had it.

I've been lurking on this forum awhile while I search for a kahr. As far as I can tell k9 coverts were never made. Anyone ever seen one?

WOLFE, I believe you're right. Come to think of it, I've never seen a K9 Covert either. My first Kahr was a K40 Covert which I really didn't care for but I wish I still had it.

IIRC, the K9 Covert *was* listed on their website for a time. I never saw one though.

Short answer is no.

As you can see in the following drawing, the "all steel" Kahrs lack solid grip sides:

I'll have to keep looking then.

Kahr used to make a K9 and K40 covert.I don't think they make them anymore. They are the K series with a shortened grip.

There is a used K40 covert with night sights on Gunbroker right now.

Do a search on Gunbroker for Kahr.Find an auction from D&R sports.Email him (Mark) and ask if he has any K9 coverts. He probably does.I just bought a brand new K40 with nickel finish from him for under $460.00 shipped.

Mark has no k9 coverts. Got his email this morning.

It still might be conceivable to have the grip shortened. It would have to be cut and then welded. It's definitely not beyond the capabilities of some of the talented gunsmiths out there, but it would probably cost a bundle.

Thats too bad.I thought he'd have a couple laying around. He had one or two on GB recently.Must have sold them.I guess they're getting hard to find.
