The USP .45 ACP came in my way as I was searching for a .45 Gun and I ahve narrowed it down to the Glock 21 and the Hk USP in which I am going to rent quite soon.
Well, I was wondering if anyone had problems using the "thumbs forward grip" on a "out of Box" plain jane Hk USP V1
Thanks

I recently converted my V1 USP to a V3(DA/SA w/decocker only). I did not feel comfortable shooting a thumbs forward grip with the safety/decocker combo. With my thumb underneath the control lever I pushed the safety up a couple times and I was always worried I would decock the hammer with my thumb on top of the control lever, however, the latter never actually happened. I have heard other people say they have never had a problem with V1 and a thumbs forward grip.
The good news is that the USP is VERY easily converted between variants, especially if you do not need to change the control lever. I only had to swap out one part (detent plate) and it cost me less than ten bucks. If I don't like it I can always go back and I'm only out ten bucks.
In short, my advice is do not let the variant scare you away from a USP.

thanks im thinking of getting a v9 and ambi, very 1911 style of shooting =) the thing is, with a glock 21 I don't have to worry about any of that. With a jarvis barrel it's just as accurate.
I'm not sure yet, but sooner or later i'll find the one right for me

The big knock on the HK is that the trigger is inferior to the Sig 220 and 1911 trigger. I have Sigs, 1911, and a Glock 30. The one in the lock-box under the bed is my HK. I can't give a higher recommendation. However, mine has a match trigger. This costs (I think) about $100 if you have it done by HK. In SA the trigger is just as good as my big-bucks 1911.

get the hk,you can get a match trigger for it,
the hk is a better gun, and holds its value.
