Went coyote hunting this morning for the first time. Had a CD boom box from WalMart, and a Mojo Fuzzy Thang spinning tail decoy. I was sitting on a clearcut gas pipeline field, wind in my face, in my deer treestand (permanent stand 30' high).
I saw 2 coyotes come to the edge of the field, but they WOULD NOT cross it for anything. They just ambled back and forth. After 30 minutes, the CD quit playing the cottontail distress sounds, and the coyotes still sat there watching the Mojo decoy. They were on the same side of the clearcut as I was, and they were about 50-60 yards up in the bushes. I could see them moving back and forth, but couldn't get a clear shot. Finally, they took off for parts unknown.
Man, that was fun. It's not as fun as deer or turkey hunting, but it does rank a close 3rd!!!
I can't wait until next week to do it again!
