They clean up pretty well, but what are they?

The top strap design looks solid, is that a .38 S&W?
Unfluted cylinder looks cool too.

The hammer looks stylish, but the cylinder release knob? looks like bad plumbing.

Is it a famous manufacturer? American? 20th century?

One is a .38, the other a .32. Not sure who made them, though.
