Hey all, just thought I'd say g'day.

I'm in Australia, just left the Navy here and looking at starting competition shooting to keep the skills going. After much research I'll be getting a HK USP Custom Sport 9mm for IPSC comps. Unfortunatly Australian Gun Laws restrict us to a 10 round mag and certain calibers.

I found this place and it look like home! I'm impressed that there is something like this online!! Very nice!

So in 6 months time I'll be an owner. I've gotta wait 6 months for all the paperwork and crap to go through but in that time will be at the local shooting club here in Moree.

Anyhow, if there's any advise, suggestion etc, I'm always open to opinion.

Hope ya don't mind if I stick around.

A quick question, are there any other fellow Australian shooters on the forum that you guys know of? I'd like to get in touch and talk about various issues.

Cheers all, talk to ya soon.

Brett

Here's my advise... MOVE!!!

Come to the States. You'll only have to wait for your first purchase and that's just the wait to become a resident alien. From there all purchases are pretty much on the spot in most states. Then you can go to comps all over the country if you want. In many states you can even carry your new "toy" around with you all day long so long as it's concealed. Only catch is the laws that regulate the details. But we're nowhere near what I hear your lovely country is up to these days, yet.

Other than that, just sit back, wait, then enjoy.

cheers

And in a few states you can even walk around with a pistol unconcealed. Of course, you could always walk around with a flower pot on your head but that doesn't mean I'd do it.

I've always thought about that. Anyone know of any radio announcer jobs in the states??

In all seriousness, it's a major hassle but really, whats 6 to 8 months?? I went and had a look at the pistol range here, I'll get some photos in the weeks coming and show you guys. The blokes down there are pretty relaxed. Even the wife is keen to give it a shot, now that'll be interesting!!!

Brett, this place is 42,000 members strong, so I can't help thinking that there has to be an Aussie here somewhere. One of tyhe most notable members from a country other than USA is Nestor, who's from the very proud country of Poland.

Welcome HOME! Pull up a chair, fill the jar, and have some fun!

Now THERE'S something you'll NEVER hear an American gun owner say....

Welcome! You and your wife have a great deal of joy to look forward to (so long as you keep that muzzle pointed in a safe direction ;f ).

Hey thanks for that guys, I really appreciate it. I'm sure I'll come up with some pretty noobie questions but at least I'll know where to get them answered!
