I've found an excellent WWII era Arisaka rifle with the crysanthemum intact, and the anti-aircraft ears attached. It appears 90-95% with a sharp bore.

The guy is asking 300 dollars for it. Is that a deal?

I usually stay toward the GI side of things, and I know nothing about Japanese rifles.

Edited to add: it has the original monopod in place, too.

I would say that the asking price is a little high. But, it's becoming rather hard to find Arisakas in decent shape. Gunbroker has quite a few rusty/nasty Arisakas in the $200 range which is absolutely nuts, but the guy is the only one offering them.

Ten years ago, I bought a nice Type 99 in the same condition you mention for $75 from a dealer. I would probably try to negotiate a lower price on the rifle, but definitely buy it.

They're surprising accurate and fun to shoot rifles. I form cases from 30-06 brass, but now Grafs is importing proper boxer primed cases at reasonable prices.
