So what kind of hunting dogs does everyone have? I have an ENglish Pointer and a Chesapeake Bay Retireiver. Two of the best dogs around in my opinion.

I now have a Lab pub and in the past I've own a Walker coonhound. Personally I think these 2 breeds are the best hunting dog for their respected area, ( water fowl & squirrel /coons/hogs )

Golden retriever. The stupidest dog in the world. Absolutely untrainable-one of those 75 pound lap-dogs. After two years of failed training, he got demoted to pet. It's prolly my fault. Next one will be a German Shorthair for uplands.

Weimaraner for me! Hunt mainly upland game. Grouse, woodcock, and pheasant. My dog is just a machine out in the field. Nothing gets past him!

I have a Short Hair, love that dog, I have hunted him a couple times but hes a pet mainily know, he had a run in with some big fireworks on the 4th of July when he was younger, and well hes really gun shy now. He is a still a great dog and a good hunter. I run him once in awhile, so he can hunt, but never shoot anything over him , I just like to watch him work. We had a Brittany Spaniel too, he was well different, he hunted hard, but that dog just never seemed right in the head. Great dog and a great pet too, he was killed by a drunk driver, who hit the dog as my little brother was walking him down the side walk, almost him my brother. I have a pointer mix, she will never hunt, but she is birdie.

I have a black lab- best all-around hunting dog out there. I had a German Shorthair but she bit my son, had to put her down. I won't get another GSP again. I am a labrador retiever man now.

I've had 5 labs over my life. All were excellent dogs and great hunters.
My current is a chocolate named Lena. She's awesome in every way.

I've got a two year old black lab named Sadie. She loves chasing quail as much as I do, and that's all we do for three months every year. I started her hunting at 5 months, and she's done great for me -- I don't believe you can start them too young if you do it right.

Good pet, too. The lab temperment really suits me. I don't think I'll ever own anything else.
