Does anyone have any experience with the newest Charter 2000 revolvers? I'm only looking for a revolver that can be stashed in the glove box or certain secret spots in the house, for that "just in case". I've got Glocks, Smiths, Taurus', and many more, but I'm looking for something cheap that can get scratched up and beat up and I won't cry over it. Prefer .38 Spcl (+P a bonus) revolver with 3-4 inch barrell. Might be keen to the idea of a .44 Spcl, just maybe.

And, does anybody in the Spring or Houston area know where I can get one??? I'm REAL tired of getting laughed out of gun stores and pawn shops.

I bought a 38spl Charter Arms Undercover Stainless for the wife. Looks just like this one.

Since she just wanted a "simple" gun (matching the qualities of her husband, no doubt ;f ) this was the ticket for her. Very lightweight and loaded with low recoil federal hydroshock jhps.

No complaints here. You can find them for bids (NIB) as low as $219 on www.gunbroker.com

Good luck.

I have 3 Charter 2000 guns:
Undercover:
1st cylinder full=2 bangs and 3 clicks. Fixed under warranty.
Functioned 100% through 500 rounds.
Offduty:
Same as above.
Bulldog:
Functioned 100% through 500 rounds.

Quality control seems to be hit or miss.

I have a Charter 2000 .38 snubby with an internal hammer, a la the S&W Centennial. It's very handy and it shoots well enough, but the trigger pull is... bad. Bad as in so heavy and creepy that it makes the average staplegun feel good by comparison.

I can still get hits out to 10 yards or so, but the combination of the sharp recoil (from the light weight) and the bad trigger make the little Charter no fun to shoot.
