More Lefties in the Country?

For the past couple of years, I seem to notice more and more lefties. Especially women. Somewhere I read that there were fewer left handed women than men. I no longer agree with that.

Have you noticed this?


BTW, I'm not left handed. Many people think that I am. I wear my watch on the right, carry my wallet on the right, can write left handed, and ride a skateboard 'goofy footed'.

I think that I'm a Lefty trapped in a Righty's body. ;) :)

I don't know about more leftys than there used to be overall but I'm definately seeing more of us at the range and especially at IDPA matches.

Just a few years ago you might see two or three left handers at an IDPA match of 60 to 70 shooters. Now at the same size match you'll probably see ten to twelve left handers.

I thought I was quite unique until I went to college. There were so many! I hated that the lefty desks were so far from the action in the lecture halls. More men than women, but more overall. I guess statistically it wasn't amazing. I am the only one in my family (both parents, 6 other siblings) that is a lefty.

Is this "more lefties in the country" in a specific age range? Since being left handed is okay now and people aren't forced to use their right. There was a lady I knew that wrote right and drew with her left. She was forced to write with her right hand, since it was evil to write with her left. She hailed from the Czech Repulic.

Could it be something in the water?;Q

I never could switch to being right handed in school. The Teacher tried her best,I used to go home with bleeding nuckles every day. There were times that I thought she may have broker bones.

Now if a Teacher even acted like they were going to use a yard stick on a student they would be in deep doo doo.

I can tell you all kind of horror stories about being left-handed in a Catholic school.
