Can you go into a little more detail about the types of events for this match. I'm an avid shooter and looking to get back into competing. I'd like to know more about the events, the type of gear needed to shoot this match, and entry fees. I got a ton of questions but I'll limit my questionaire (lol) on what info you give me and take it from there.;I
Well, without being to long winded here goes.
This is a USPSA type match ( commonly known as combat shooting). Lots of shooting on the move with barricades, ports. Targets are either paper or reactive steel.
There are different divisions and within each division different classes so you only shoot against people in your class.
Limited - iron sited high capacity guns usually in 40S&W or 45 ACP. Usually STI, SVI, Glock, Para Ordance or CZ brands. These guns hold 18 to 21 rounds per magazine. Usually "race" style holster and mag holders used here
Limited 10 - iron sighted guns with a limit of 10 rounds in the magazine. Single stack 1911 style pistols and Glocks do well here but may use a Limited gun with just 10 rounds as well. Usually "race" style holster, but Uncle Mike style Kydex works well. a good. A good division to start in with low start up cost.
Production - (my new favorite) This division is for stock double action pistol only. No external modification can be made. Holster must cover gun to the ejection port. Kydex rules here. Good division to start in as it is cheap to get geared up in, basically shoot what you have is the rule. 9mm rules here.
Open - Fully modified double stack high capacity 38 super or 9mm with compensators and red dot type sites here. Very expensive to get started in.
Revolver- just what the name says
You need a gun, holster, 4-6 mag holders, 4-6 magazines, 250-300 rounds of ammo and a love of shooting.
Entrance fee will be approx $125 for this match. It is free to watch. There will be 8 stages with round count from 10 to 32 rounds per stage. Anywhere from 80 to over 100 shooters will be there.
There is usually a side match for an addtional fee to win some prizes.
Let me know what else you need or contact Gary at the email above (for information about the match)or for more information on USPSA matches go to USPSA.org or a good forum is at brianenos.com where you can learn anything about shooting USPSA competitions from equipment, matches, reloading, gunsmithing, etc.
