I have three 1911's. The latest, an old gun that has been shot a lot, had a problem with the slide not locking back after the last round was shot. I then removed the shok-buff slide saver, and it worked on most (or, at least some) magazines. It has since ceased working on all magazines. Now, no matter which magazine I use, the slide will not remain back after the last round is spent, or if I stick in an empty magazine and manually pull the slide back. I have Jerry Kuhnhausen's book, and I am trying to figure out what the problem is. Does this sound like a problem with the plunger, the slide stop, or something else?

Could be any of these:

1.Worn mag followers
2.Weak mag springs
3.Worn slide release

Thanks Glockin,

I finally figured out this elementary principal -- the front lip of the follower lefts up the tab of the slide stop -- doh! I'll check it out when i get home tonight. I am thinking the slide stop is the culprit. Thanks, again.
