Ryan (and others), try using the "macro" setting on your camera when taking photos within about 2 feet from the subject. On most cameras it's an icon that looks like a flower. Also, it's best to take photos of dark-colored objects outside in natural light, but not necessarily in direct sunlight. Experiment with and without flash. I've found that a medium blue background photographs well. I use a polyester Nike t-shirt. My camera is a Sony DSC-S75 3.3-megapixel, and I use the 1280 X 960 photo size setting for most of my photos. Some examples can be found in my post entitled "P99 wallpaper". http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=360471

That is sad :( You might want to check with some of the local class III dealers, I'm sure they know someone that will.

is that an Alessi Talon Plus holster on your PPK?
The P99 is in an Alessi Talon Plus. The PPK is in an Alessi Talon. The difference is that the "Plus" has a reinforcing band at the top of the holster help prevent it from collapsing when inside the pants without the pistol in it. Actually though, I don't think the band is necessary for my use. The regular Talon will stay open without it. However, I only wear the holsters occasionally. For everyday use, the band may actually be better in the long run if the leather softens.

i only have a p22 now, getting the can in a few months. but need to see if i need to get the shorter barrel or if i can use the long barrel with the adapter. if i like this p22 as much as i think i will i might be in the market for a p99 later.
ok shot the p22 today and it shot great. no feed problems at all. had to do some adjusting on the laser, but that is expected. this is realy for my wife but i get to play with it when she gets done. i got it for her to shoot idpa with me (special ok by the head RO for her to shoot with a .22). maybe after i get my fn 5.7 i might just need to add a walther P99 in .40 S&W to my collection. she liked it alot more than her ruger 22/45 so maybe i can get rid of that on a new walther, for her you know.
I have quite a few generic PP's and PPK's. But, this one stands out a bit. Returned home by my father when he took over the Walther factory at the end of WWII.

Blue - Man that is a nice pistol!! I want one of those and a PPK. What is the difference between the AS and the Qsomething?
bluebomberx
08-18-2005, 19:51
I'm not sure about the differences but I know what the AS is. The AS stands for anti-stress trigger. When it's cocked, the trigger doesn't change position until the slack is taken up. It will click at the reset and stay there. It only works this way for the first pull of the trigger. Every other pull is set at the reset. It also has the decocker to put it double action. It's a little was a little different at first since the only handgun I had before was an Springfield Amory XD.
Wait, this will explain the AS trigger system better than I can (http://www.praxagora.com/lunde/WaltherP99FAQ/VII/2.html) ;g
From Walther's German website (http://www.carl-walther.de/englisch/defense/defense-36.html)
P99AS- Anti-Stress
Traditional double action and single action modes, and the added feature of the anti-stress trigger position which is engaged after reloading.
The P22 was the most recent purchase. I bought the P99AS from Gander Mountain for $519.99 + tax a couple weeks ago. I ended up getting four magazines with the gun. Two 10 rounders and two 15 rounders. When I bought it, the display I looked at had 15 rounders. The one I took home came with 10 rounders. I went back to complain and they ordered the 15 rounders for free ;a

So, that's what the derma grip looks like, huh?
I was tempted to put a Hogue grip on my USP, but I prefer the look w/o it. I had a Hogue grip on a Glock 19 once, but I kinda like leaving the gun "as is."
How do U like shooting the P99c w/ the flat floor plate? I couldn't shoot mine well with the flat plate. Until I got a 2nd plate, I basically just used 1 mag at the range. Now, both of my mags have the finger extension.
Now I can play too...My P99c AS

I love the Derma grip... it was well worth the 20 buck.... and since it is not rubber it won't stick to your hand or clothes....
I shoot my P99c only with flat floorplates..... I got 3 mags with flat foorplates for myself and 4 ($20,CDNN mags with $10,Earls extension) for the wife.... when we go to the range together she likes to shoot the P99c...
I am planing on putting my Nill's on my P5 once I hear back from Nill about my fitting issue I have....
2 other people said they had to "dremmel" the Nill's to fit on the P5 and it is pissing me of to tell you the truth.... $138 shipped that should get you some grips that fit like a glove I would think...
Well I don't mind taking a file to the grippannel (inside) but just didn't think I would have to....
*edit
If you want some high res pics of the Derma grip let me know I can mail them... just don't seam to be too lucky getting pics on here... I need to find a good place to "store" my images

Thanks for the pics of the derma grip. Just looks too strange to me - not a fan of the texture. I don't like the re-worked Glock grips either - once they resize them, they have to retexture them, and it just doesn't look right to me.
No problem.... it looks better in natural light though..

Glockman1000,
I love your Commemorative. It makes me chuckle though. Commemorating the new Millennium by including a VCR tape. Who has VCR's anymore?
Dave
Here is my new P99c and one of my P22s. I added a fibre optic HiVis front sight to both of them.

How do U like the Hi Viz sights
I've had them on my P22s for about a year anf like them a lot. If I had known that Walther had a full set of the red ones I would have tried them on my P99c.
lets try this again....'74 PP Super .. no Import marks...original wood grips... 106th PP Super made in 9x18 Ultra
and my pride:)
Model 2 1938 with a 1931 Zeiss Scope.
With the Bolt in Position 1 it shoots as a Bolt action, in Position 2 as a semi auto:) :) :)
I'm in - now I may have to follow Shipwreck's lead and send the slide off to Tripp for hard chroming. ;)

Hey thats the first compact I've seen with a long mag release! I always wondered if they'd do it there too.

Yep, my P99c and SW99 have hard chromed slides - and my fullsize P99 slide is being hard chromed right now...

LOL - Your full size P99 is keeping my USP 45 compact's slide and barrel company at Tripp's. They received it last Thursday.
I'll probably send them the P99c's slide and barrel once I get my USP back. Your to blame for that as I really like how yours came out. ;)

I like keeping the barrel black - for contrast.

Yes - it looks good in your pics. I figure with my barrel hard chromed along with the slide - we won't get our P99c's mixed up. ;)
Do anyone ever think that it is so wrong that the innocent children, men, and women who died over there in Afgarnistan or Irag? Not just the American soldiers who died for their country and their duty.

Id shoot it! Thats probaly the coolest gun of any type, i have ever seen in my life. My Grandfather was the cheif of military police in Nueremburg (sp?) durring the trials and my grandmother was a typest for the court. I was looking through some old photos and documents about him. He was certinly a bad lad, but aparently he had good taste in firearms! Does anyone know what happened to old Adolphs ppk? I bet that would bring some dough. Its probaly sitting under a house in Russa right now rusting away!
Well another beauty is in my hands......
She is from 1966.. original, no import marks, matching # on box and target, cleaning rod and manual...
2 German police pistols.....
P7M8 and P5.... the H&K is a "AG" and the P5 is a "KC" with Nill compat grips

Well it may not be Himmler's but it is a presentation model that Himmler would give to members of the SS. It is a great piece.

Actually an excellent photo can be had with a 3.1 MGPX camera, maybe adjust the macro setting for closeups.

thanks so much.... very nice.....
here is a shot of mine in 9x18U, one of the first ones ever made....no import marks unfired
The hardest part for the PP Super is the original pinky extension for the mags... next to the factory original wood grips (these grips are Walther made)
the other pic is my shooter PP Super in 9x18U.....with custom made wood grips..... these were the prototype grips... nothing special and fit wasn't 100%

Not really a firearm but this old airgun has plenty of charm.
Not as cool as this one. Heck, it is even three years older than me. By the way, that LP53 is really hard to shoot well. I can still get a decent score at bullseye with rim- and centerfire but with the LP53 I am hardpressed to get an 8 ring everage at 10m.
http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z159/Andyd173/PPWEIGHTED002.jpg
Ummm
is that barrel weight attached to the frame?? I can't tell for sure by the pic but that would be most unusual...
got any more pics of that Manhurin ??
It is a Manurhin PP Sport. This is a standard Walther barrel weight. The barrel is threaded and the weight can be taken off and a front sight attached.
I also have a weight with an integral sight that a German master toolmaker made for me and I just finished and rust blued it.
I'll get some photos ready.
http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z159/Andyd173/PPSportsmallweight002.jpg
This is the gun with the original grips and mag shoe installed. I have a problem uploading files on photobucket but will upload a photo of the gun with the regular front sight later on.
This is the custom made weight.
