Just caught a little blurb in the latest issue of "American Rifleman", that S&W has reached an agreement with Walther to build the PPK in .380 ACP. Smaller than the PPK/s, lighter by about 3 oz., S&W is going to improve the breech face design and recoil system.
Good chance I'll have a new pocket pistol in my collection soon.

Let's just hope the don't completely mess it up while they're looking for ways to improve it. This design has done very well for the past seven decades, so let's hope the think their design changes over thoroughly. The way I see it, the gun really only needs work in two areas: reliability and the tendency to bite the shoot (this issue has already been resolved on the PPK/s, so there's really only one problem remaining).
I'll look forward to seeing them. Maybe, if they impress me enough, I'll buy it as a companion to my Interarms PPK/s and Pre-WWII PPK .32 ACP.

I'm glad to hear that. I've been wanting a PPK for a while now. Hopefully they'll be lower priced since it'll be made in America.

S&W seem to be doing a fair job on PPK/s But I see no sense in their messing with a proven design. I'll just keep buying old interarms since most people say their a pos. I bet in a few years of S&W the interarms will look real good.
I wish they'd make one in 9mm.

I'm afraid that just wouldn't be possible with this design. 9mm generates just too high a pressure for a small blowback auto. Now, if they could change to some kind of a locked breach design while preserving the overall look of the gun..... Probably the best they'd be able to do with the current design is chamber it for the 9mm Mak (not a bad idea). You could rig a blowback for 9mm, but you'd have to rely solely on the recoil spring and mass of the slide to keep the action closed until pressures drop to safe levels. Of course, this type of gun ends up being rather large (a good example is a Cobray M11).

The H&K VP70 is another blowback 9mm. It has the worst trigger ever, IIRC it's about 18 lbs.
