I am looking for a little advice. My 1985 Toyota pickup is starting to overheat. It only does it when it is really warm or I am driving over 65 MPH. For example, if it is a 70 degree day and I drive for an extended period of time at 80 MPH, I see it is running noticeably hotter.
My plan currently is to replace the hoses, radiator and thermostat since all have about 100,000 on them since any work has been done.
It has the original radiator but has been rodded once. The radiator shops says they would replace it due to age rather than rod it again. So here is the question, how do I buy a good, inexpensive radiator.
I checked one place on the web and they will sell me one for $109. The radiator shop says they can sell me one for about $140 but he recommended a much better radiator for $180. The dealer wants about $500 for a new toyota radiator.
So any advice out there as far as buying a radiator. Are there good brand names I should consider?
