When doing dumb bell curls 1 arm will give out before my sets are completed. Should I continue on with just 1 arm until the sets are completed, or do I stop there, waiting until the weaker arm eventually builds up and the sets can be completed using both arms?
I would say start using a curl bar as part of your routine. This allows both arms to get the full range of motion and will be beneficial in aiding in symmetrical muscle development. Then, when you feel that both arms are about equal, try the dumbells again.
