I shoot Glocks, but my brother owns a Taurus 92 which came off of the same machines as the Berettas as I understand it.

I was introducing him to some IDPA style shooting and since he did not want to customize the gun too much, he wanted to shoot it in Stock Service Pistol. The double action trigger pull is off of the scale and the single action trigger pull is 7+ pounds.

I worked on my two G34s by myself. Is there a simple trigger upgrade that can be done to the Berettas like you can do to the Glocks. A little polishing and spring changes? If anyone can post some links on how to do these things it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Clay1--

I'd be a little chary in giving out advice on your brother's Taurus via the Beretta way. I may be wrong but I think there are subtle differences between the two guns.

Your best bet would be to contact Taurus USA and seek advice on how to lighten that 7lbs single action (!) pull.

For a Beretta 92, a simple swap of the mainspring to a D-model (for DAO Berettas) would improve the trigger pull tremendously.

Alexii, thanks for the info. I found the following site that offers springs. They also have spring kits that are designated just for the Taurus:

Never done business with them before so I can't speak for them, but I will give them a try.

A Taurus is not a Beretta. I'm not being a snob, just stating the facts.

There are two ways to go, in my opinion. First is to trade the Taurus for a Beretta. That opens up a lot of options. If that isn't acceptable, going down from the factory 18# mainspring to a 16# version from Wolff will help a little. A general polishing will lighten and smooth the trigger pull. You're stuck with the factory trigger return spring, as it is not a coil spring (but it's pretty light anyway). On Berettas you can snip a few coils off of the firing pin block spring, but I don't believe the Taurus has one (or at least not the same kind). That's probably about as good as you're going to do on your own. If you want it better than that, you'll need to call around and see who works on them.

IMHO snipping coils from springs is not safe .not when new shorter springs are avalible from wolff springs.10 dollers got me 4 sets of trigger return springs and hammer spring in 4 different weights to custom tune my gp-100.;0 ;0 they were 8,9,10 and 12 lbs spring weights stock being 14 lbs.i settled on the 8 lbs lightest and have yet to get a light strick or miss fire.sweetest ruger trigger ive ever felt.;0

I use reduced power sear spring and 19lb 1911 mainsprings in my Beretta trigger jobs. That combo will typically give you a 4.5lb SA and about an 8lb DA pull. On my competition only 92G Vertec I use a 15lb 1911 spring for a 3lb SA and a 6.5lb DA pull.
