Went gun shopping Saturday and saw a nice new Springfield Loaded Bi-Tone Lightweight 1911 that I just fell in love with...so first thing this morning I was on my way to the store to pick it up.
I left work a little early so that I could do some shooting with it before it got dark....and I was very happy with the way it shoots! I have had other 1911 pistols: Para, Colt, Remmington, etc...but this one shot perfectly. As long as i did my part, the rounds would hit EXACTLY where I was aiming. Other than a flyer here and there (completely my fault) I could put an entire magazine into a group that would measure 2" or less at 25 yards.
The target with the pics is from the last magazine that I shot...but all the groups were that nice! I fired 300 rounds in it today and no malfunctions, so I will start carrying it tomorrow!

Great looking gun. Good choice with the Wilson mags. I had a Bi Tone once. Sorry I let it get away. Very nice pistol. You really notice the lighter weight during carry, but I never noticed that much more recoil when shooting. Congratulations.

Boy that is one fine lookinbg pistola. I checked out one of them a few months back at my local shop and liked it a LOT. Since I now have a CCW I have been thinking of getting a lightweight 1911 to carry, that Springer would do VERY nicely.
You wouldn't have to do a darn thing to that baby except maybe change the sights (if you don't like them) and maybe some front strap checkering.
I am jealous.

Yeah, it's a very nice pistol...and about perfect for what I need.
The checkering would be nice, but I can live without it. The sights on the Lighweight Bi-Tone are Novak Night Sights....so to me, you really can't beat that with a stick! I think that there are a few comsetic things that I will eventually change....but no hurry there
If you run across one of these, and have the cash to pick it up, you won't be disappointed with it!

I couldn't agree more about the Lightweight Loaded. I have one that I bought about two months ago and have been nothing but pleased with it. It carries well, shoots well, and is one of the best looking pistols out there IMHO.
The only mods I have planned for mine are switching to a GI recoil plug and guide in place of the two piece FLGR for simplicity's sake and switching to an alloy or possibly Colt Nylon MSH housing for weight savings. I have also considered sending the slide off for bead blasting on the top and brushing on the flats, but haven't made my mind up yet.
I just cut and applied a piece of skateboard tape on the front strap rather that having to pay for the checkering and subsequent refinishing. Besides, not everyone does good checkering on alloy frames.
