View Full Version : P22 & 10 yr old
My 10 yr old son and our P22. After that day in the desert the P22 has over 1k rounds thru it with no problems.

I know the feeling. My 12 (now 13) year old felt the same way with ours. I'm totally jealous though-only places to shoot here are indoor ranges. No chance to show my son how much fun plinking is.
Bummer about not being able to get outside. I like our indoor range just fine...but the desert rocks. Do you guys have the 3 or 5 inch barrel? I'm wondering what a difference it makes.

That boy has a good stance. Not leaning back, he seems to have learned well. Great teaching job!

Punkkin:
We have the 3" barrel. I did not like the looks of the 5" nearly as well and this was a "fun gun" as opposed to a target weapon. I'm still pretty happy with the accuracy, at least at short (25') range. I told my son that as soon as he gets better than the Walther it would be time for an upgrade. I'm thinking about either a .22 conversion for a Glock 19 or a Sig Mosquito, depending on reviews of the latter.

Thanks Joe, we've been working mostly on safety with only a few suggestions on technique (mostly me telling him only one finger on the trigger).

I felt the same about the 5". Didn't look quite right, but with the new "fix" on p22's in california i wonder if a lot of barrels will be on sale here. I'd still like to have both lengths.

awesome.
I took my 10 yr old daughter to the range for the first time last week. I have a P22 with both the 3+5" barrels. She had a great time. We had gone over the safety stuff at home during the previous months. And had "manual of arms" training back at the house.
She blew my mind when after a failure to feed (caused by limpwristing) she immediately did a failure drill and continued firing without ANY coaching. I smile just thinking about it.;f ;f

Awesome, makes a papa proud. Do you notice much of a difference between the barrels?

To be honest, I haven't shot the 3" enough to decide. When it is just me, I use the 5". I started her on the 3", and I only put 100 rnds through it myself.
I hope to put some more through it soon. I have 15k waiting to get shot
