After a long build, my Colt series 70 that I have owned almost 30 years / unfired has been transformed into a simple yet beautiful pistol by Don Williams. I got it Friday and just love it. It is finished in birdsongs black teflon. It is wearing novak low mount night sights and now has a 2.5 pound trigger pull.
The metal work and feel of the gun are simply excellent. The gun feels like it is on roller bearings. The fit is tight , but not hard to operate. I picked some of the parts and had Don pick his favorite parts in other areas. The mag chute is all hand fitted and is simply stunning. It looks like it grew on the pistol.
I hope to get some range time this week, and take some time to make some pretty looking photos as well. This gun was built to be my IDPA / IPSC gun as I planned it . As I have another gun project in the works ... I also might make this my daughters first gun and give it to her as a gift. She is almost a teenager, and the thin grips and short trigger would make this gun fit her very well.

Don is one of the BEST SMITHS in the Country, He does GREAT THING to Browning High Powers, and 1911’s He is not as well know as many of the Super Smiths, but his work is great.

WOW! one outstanding Colt! :)
Beautiful. Your daughter is very lucky!
Top shelf work, certainly worth the wait. That looks like one of the best grip safety fits and carry bevels I've seen in quite some time.

The thing that impressed me , besides the flawless metal work was that the grip safety and thumb safety feel perfect... not too much tension, not too little... I could not describe it well enough to ask for that kind of fit.... but Don just did it so that it feels exactly correct...
The slide to frame fit is also great... not overly tight... not loose like the gun came from colt...just tightened up to where the parts feel fitted to each other..
the mag well looks like it grew on the pistol... all hand soldered and I like the fit and ability to get mags loaded in a hurry. The gun will soon get holster wear and lots of rounds thru it. I want to get some pictures of the gun pristine.. .and perfect.. as the gun will not be stored behind glass. the gun will get love and attention... like all the others, but it will also work for a living. I think that Don Williams makes more guns for people that carry them and use them.. less fru -fru ... more serious business. I like that.
Don Williams is also a very patient and kind person to deal with. Since this is my first custom gun built by a professional.. it was important to have someone that I trust to deliver something I would be happy with. Don was and is a guy that I can't say enough good things about working about.

I hope she likes shooting... she has not shown much interest so far... but she described this colt as a " beautiful pistol " when I showed it to her. That is a good start. ;)
I had my daughter pick the parts for the norinco project... and she seems to like the look of this pistol a lot. the weight of the mag well and great feel to the trigger and controls should make this user friendly for her. I love thin grips and flat mag wells... for me , the short trigger was a trial item... so far I like it.

Very nice understated Colt!
If Don picked his favorite parts can you list them?
