Are there any hams around from the Gulf Coast States way? There have been some major tropo ducting events recently that I have worked on 2 meters. If so, please reply, especially you guys in Alabama and Ole Miss.

I am from NE Alabama, what kind of ducting are you getting? What kind of rig are you using?

Tropospheric ducting is the type. The below link will explain it much better than I can. My rig is just an old Icom 2000H (50W) with no amp. I am using a small homebrewed yagi as an antenna. It is kind of fun to DX on VHF especially when you live near the Gulf Coast and get so many opportunities.

Six meters has been great the last couple weeks here in EN52. We have yet to experience any VHF enhancement on 2m or above.

6m has been really good here in EN52 again the last few days. East coast was working good DX. Still nothing on 2m or above, however the tropo/E season for 144 and up is not quite here yet.

I tried the link and it didn't work - maybe too old. Any idea how long this will last? I hope to get my ticket in a few weeks.
