My TPH loads, fires, and ejects perfectly EXCEPT it rarely will fire in the double-action mode. The de-cocker seems to perform correctly. I like the little jewell with a shot load in the chamber to deal with snakes while fishing. Of course, the shot load does not have enough recoil to cycle the slide but the real problem is that I have to manually cock the pistol prior to firing it. I have had other Walthers in the past that did not display this problem. Everything seems fine except no DA firing capability. Any ideas?

Never been in side your type. But take off grips and make sure empty now dry fire in DA and watch bar on right side. It may not be catching on DA properly. You should be able to see this. This happens now and then on a Bersa 380(ppk clone) since they both DA might help and only takes a min to remove grips.
I have a stainless Interarms TPH that did the same thing.
I disassembled it and lightly polished all the parts that showed wear marks or had sharp edges that could impede hammer fall with 600 grit black wet or dry paper wrapped on a popsickle stick or needle file.
This included the sides of the hammer and inside the slide where the hammer could rub, the hammer strut that goes through the mainspring- remove any burrs, roughness and sharp edges on the strut, the firing pin tunnel and firing pin.
My thinking was I wanted to get more power to the hammer fall.
I'm not sure what part of all my polishing was the fix but when reassembled the little gun worked flawlessly. My plastic grips fell apart and I replaced them with some nice walnut ones from Eagle grips www.eaglegrips.com
Consider going easy on the snakes, we're the ones trespassing in their front yard. Good luck fishing!!
